It is time for me to look into a new Desktop. Any suggestions for Apple? I want to get one, but I really do not know much about Apple computers so any help would be great.

Pros Cons of Apple plz compared to Windoze. I run Windows on one desktop and my lappy, and run Ubuntu on my other desktop. I really like Linux a lot.

I've been using a mac for a few years now and love it. Can't imagine going back to winblows. I really don't see why so many people are faithful to it, it never gave me anything but headaches because of errors or corrupt dll files or somethings randomly missing for some reason and it decides to randomly restart because it doesnt know what else to do.

Anyway, I'd recommend for a desktop to get an iMac. The newer models are really sexy and are great for just about anything you'd need (except gaming, lets face it - mac isn't really a gaming OS but then again I'd rather game on a console anyway). I'd recommend probably a 20" imac, I got a 24" one downstairs and its HUGE, like... too big really haha. But the nicest thing about the imacs are that there's no tower, it's all in one sleek monitor (nothing like the ugly ass old ones).

I mean, unless you're doing some heavy ass stuff you wouldn't need a MacPro decked out with mega ram or anything. If it's just stuff like what the average person uses a computer for: internet, word processing, watching movies, etc then an iMac will do all that and more without a sweat and I can guarantee it will never yell at you about some missing dll file and then suddenly go spaz and shut down lol.

EDIT: Did a little search on apples site for ya since you said your mac pro with options topped out at 4 grand lol. Go with the 20" iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, add a gig of RAM for $100, and get the AppleCare plan (its worth it, if there is ever even the slightest problem for whatever reason they'll fix anything free for 3 years) and the total is a tad over $1700 which is much more reasonable than $4000.

PS: To anyone who might come by and say Macs are too expensive, think of this: Mac makes top of the line computers with sleek style. For the OS they're comparable to alienware computers. If you go on alienwares website and choose a few upgrades you'll be looking at a price tag of $6000+ and Macs are cheaper than that. For me, having a reliable computer with a stable OS that will last me years without having any problems is worth every penny, even if it might be twice the price of low end junk windows pcs like DELL.

PPS: I have extreme hatred for DELL. Don't even get me started. dry.gif Edited by jordanneff
