smidge
So my bowl just broke. It was weird. Im putting my bowl on top of my stem, and then CRACK! half of the bottom broke off, i lifted it up and then the other half fell off So im using my mod bowl right now which has never liked to stay on my hookahs right. So its time i buy a new bowl. I dont want anything to large as i dont smoke with many people. And i Smoke mostly fantasia, af, aw right now. Any suggestions? NoDeadBodies
put a few layers of foil under the bowl grommet...it should make that mod bowl stay in place just fine....keep adding layers if it is still loose
mushrat
wet papertowl also makes an excellent grommet.
leadpipecinch21
indeed it does.what kind of bowl broke? a month or two ago that same thing happened to my mya bowl...kinda sucked.
mushrat
Mya's do that sometimes. Comes from either a flaw or pushing your bowl down too hard.
smidge
i cannot get my mod bowl to smoke right, im not getting the clouds from AF like i was with my Egyptian
waterboi
for suggestions i would say a small phunnel or a super chief. Both smoke well to me.
Nikon1323
that weird man i have a mod bowl and i use it all the time with my syrian and i get great smokes...big thing i do with them is make sure the shisha is spread out on the entire bowl and i try to have little to no shisha touching the foil...and i usually get a good hour out of that so

Capt. Morgan
Couple wraps around the stem with athletic tape underneath the grommet made all the difference in theworld for keeping my mod bowl in place.
MechAnt
Mya bowls are good and cheap. Classic Egyptian bowls are always good. I'd recommend the Social Smoke Hemi bowl. I got one with their promotion and I liked it a lot. It's relatively cheap as well.
smidge
I think im going to purchase a phunnel, but before i do how easy is heat management with it? Also will it take a while to get a good smoke out of it since i've been using egyptian and mod bowls all this time?
MechAnt
It's not difficult at all. Check out the FAQ and it has pictures of phunnel bowl packing and what not. Heat management is never really much problem, it's a very intuitive system. Phunnels are nice and all but I actually prefer old skool!
Johnny_D
I've actually given up with my funnell. I don't think it's "all that".Try a 'Saudi style' bowl I quite like them JD
racemyghost
Ever since i got my egyptian bowl, i havent touched my phunnel. Just something to think about. Both are excellent bowls and you cant go wrong with either one.

racemyghost
QUOTE (smidge @ Apr 17 2008, 12:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>im kind of jacking my own thread right now, but i put my stem in water tonight to wash it. And some water got inside of it. not sure where, but when i shake my stem i hear the water inside of it... any ideas?i freakin hate it when that happens!!! my old pipe used to do that. Basically, you have to go outside and shake it/swing it around until you dont hear the water or you can leave it out in the sun all day upside down or right side up (whichever way the water comes out) until it dries. And you know what sucks? after its done drying all day, you have all the green oxidation crap in the stem and it just kills the flavor of the shisha. ANd you cant rinse it out because more water will get in the crack....basically, save yourself the headache and get a solid pipe unless the crack/water getting in is on the outside of the stem, then you can have it welded shut. smidge
i dont know where the water got into it. But i know where the water is.. Its an MZ so i wouldnt expect that from an MZ.The water is somewhere inside that area. Which isnt connected to the inside of the stem or else it would come right out so i dont see how the oxidation would affect any taste... racemyghost
it does affect the taste, well at least for me it did.Check the hose port and purge valve and make sure there are no cracks in the weld where it mounts to the stem.
smidge
so what to do? is my stem pretty much screwed now. i just got it a little over a week ago!
racemyghost
did you check the welds like i mentioned above?
smidge
yup, they look pretty damn solid to me. Nothing that really looks like holes. i think it got in from the very bottom of the stem.Edit: i see what looks like a smaller than a pin size hole.
