Need Help Buying Tangiers Bowl

the only site that carries the funell bowls seems is HC. And my god do they charge you for shipping outside US. the bowl cost 12 dollars the cost getting it here is 28 dollars.total cost 40 bucks. Devils playground seems to have them as well but they only carry it in green which is a color i dont care for. What to do? I know for a fact that shipping doesnt cost 28 dollars. So the question is how do i get hold of one?

You gotta remember that your currency is probably worth more than ours right now. 28 dollars there would be like 17 dollars here or so. MNHookahs has funnels and does go international, JD knows.

well i know the deal with the currency. Dollars are really cheap so yeah either way its kinda cheap but its still frustating to pay 28 for shipping. when i know that it doesnt cost that much. I appreciete all the input but im still looking for a webshop besides hookah company and devilsplayground that carry these. cheers

HC charges the most for shipping than any other site i've been on. They have a good variety but it doesn't justify the shipping! Base shipping is around $27!

the exorbent shipping (mine was 21.95 total) is because when i got mine it came in a 5x5x10 box and was overly bubble wrapped and packing peanut'd and it is a heavy and sturdy bowl

I'm afraid that shipping will be expensive when only ordering just a funnel. No way around it. BUT if you order it with some coals or hoses or tobacco then it works out far more palatable.

And yes, mnhookahs can get stuff through our customs [Of course it's allways a risk when importing tobacco, but i've had expensive experience with them all good]

id like to inform yall that i went i place an order at minnesota hookah. they had one in stock and Tarik was kind enough to help me out and it was 8 dollars cheaper in total then some other online vendor. i hope i ll get the bowl in one piece. im thrilled to have found a bowl but also to come across what seems to be a very very good vendor.

I ordered just two funnel bowls and a scalli mod from DPG.

I asked them to deliver it via first class mail, as opposed to priority mail. With first class mail you dont get tracking information, so there a slight gamble as to wether it'll arrive, and how long it'll take. The gamble paid off for me since in the UK we have a fairly good postal system. First class mail was much cheaper. Ring up DPG and see if they can accomodate you.

Alternatively you can buy a one-hole-tobacco-head (einloch-tabaktopf) from any good german shisha website. If you ignore the snobs on the forum (NONE of who have tried it, but are the first to slag it off - funny that?) the performance of the Euro funnel bowl is fairly similar to the Tangiers.

I've brought a lot of stuff from shisha-world.de and they're a solid distributor, but I've also heard good stuff about 12moons.de

Yeah, dont buy shisha from Germany, its their infamous 5% law (tobacco can not have more than 5% impurities, that includes mollases!).

Alright, best place to buy AF in Europe. Unfortunately I only have experience with UK sellers, and even then it varies.

1) Hookahshop.co.uk used to sell AF for £9.99 for 250grams, but they suddenly put the price up to £13.99 so I stopped buying from them. But they do have excellent customer service, and JD will vouch for them.

2) shishapipe.net are ok, they're usually more expensive, but right now they have free shipping (for UK) AND AF is cheaper £12.49, but they only have 2 flavours at the moment and most of the time they have none!

3) Last of all is www.theshishashop.com, same price as shishapipe, better selection, but they run out quickly. Which is odd, cause they have decent contacts with the sole UK AF distributor.

Can you speak German? I had a Sweedish friend who could, not brilliant, Sweedish is apparently really easy to learn, but anyway. If you can, I recommend you head over to http://www.shisha-forum.de [MODs! I'm not advertising! I'm Helping Someone!]

They have reviews on all the good European websites. Your cheapest bet could be to try a Switz shisha website, Switzerland doesn't have the the German 5% tobacco law and the countries closer to Sweeden so shipping might be cheaper than the UK. I dont know which is a good Switz site, but I'm sure the guys on the German forum will know. If you can't speak German, you can try using google.com/translate_t

Ah yes, theres a forum member called 'Snacks', he's from Sweeden (from Örebro, dont know if thats close to you). He was trying to buy some decent tobacco, I dont know how much success he's had, but I'd definitely PM him, he seemed like a nice enough chap.

But ultimately, you should really think about ordering your tobacco from the US. I know it sounds really expensive, but if you place one large order, say 1.5Kg, it works out MUCH cheaper than buying it from the UK! Even for me! And they have a far better selection. Dont forget shisha has a shelf life of 2 years so you dont have to smoke it all at once; or maybe you could order with some friend? Also, the American economy has gone down the pan, their currency is almost worthless, mate this is the BEST time to buy from the States!! Who knows, maybe next year their economy might recover?! Incidently MNHookah would be a good choice to buy all your tobacco products.

You and me we are in schengen so; the customs wont be as curious about a package smelling of mint shisha from UK as much as if it said US on it. Its a guess though. My german aint that good but i understand alot of what ive been reading. I hear you bro , we're at the doorstep of Khalil Mamoon, but can you find a decent online range in Europe? Noooo!! they have to export it 1/2 way around the world, we pay by credit card, then they export it back 1/2 way around the world!

Regarding shisha purchase, I seriously doubt that Customs and Excise are that bright. When I was younger I had a weekend job at Heathrow Airport (largest airport in Europe and the bussiest in the world) the people at C&E looked seriously dim witted. Its wage slave work, like working at a factory and they looked bored out of their brains! Well to be honest, everyone at Heathrow looks like that. There simply wasn't any incentive to work harder, they're not on comission! And now a days i suspect they're concentrating on bomb making equiptment or guns for terrorists or some crap, so they'll bound to take the eye of the ball.

C&E are mainly looking for cigarettes, alcohol and high value goods. I seriously doubt they'd recognise shisha tobacco if they saw it! It simply isn't as well known outside these forums, we're small fish in an ocean of cigarette smokers. The main method, from what I can gather is that they x-ray scan everything and anything which had the correct weight to volume ratio to be stuffed full of cigarettes is examined further. Shisha tubs are far from their modus operand, coupled with the fact they're unlikely to distinguish an x-ray scan of tub of shisha versus a tub of jam significantly reduces the chance they'll be sucessful

And oh, dont worry about the smell! Firstly, any good American shisha websites will package your order very well, you'll only barely smell something. And secondly, C&E must get loads of smelly stuff coming through the ports - cheap perfume, exotic spices, pot pouri, leather goods, etc - none of which require duties to be paid. If anything your package will be a nice relief

If I was you I'd import from the states. JD must have placed over 20 order with MNHookah alone! I'm sure you've read from the German forums, those guys import A LOT of stuff. Edited April 22, 2008 by manic007
