Km Hookahs

Recommended Posts

So.. I just recently bought a KM hookah from hookahcompany.com. I noticed something very fishy about their km items. They sells 3 hookahs named Khalil mamoon hafa, caravan, and trimetal. They sell another hookah named Khalil mamoun hybrid. They also sell a XL bowl it is a Khalil mamoon. Lastly they sell a Khalil mamoun hose.

What is the offical KM spelling? Is it a spelling mistake or are these made from totally different manufacturers?

On my KM box, it says Khalil Maamoon

on my coal catcher/tray, its spelled Khalil Mamon

on the the vase, its spelled khalil mamoon

on my hose tag, its spelled just like the box, kahlil maamoon

I dont think the company itself has an official correct spelling of their name....lol Edited by racemyghost

There is only one 'right' way to write it in Arabic.

 • 2 years later...
When I search for "khalil maamoon" on google, I get these sites:
http://www.khalilmaamoon.net/
http://www.khalilmaamoon.net/index_en.php

Which, seem to be different, but with the same domain. Strange.

But it's realy confusing, seing "original" KM stuff with all those different spellings...

Anyone to clear that out?

Unlike Chinese, with the Pinyin system of translation, or Japanese which also has standard translation rules, there is no such thing in Arabic. People spell as they please. French transliterations are different from English ones. For example Sheik becomes cheikh. Look at all the different spellings of the Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi's name. The same is obviously true for Khalil Ma'amoun

Yup

خليل مأمون

there is no "correct" way to transliterate (not translate) Arabic into English. The first word could plausibly be spelled Khalil or Khaleel, and the second Ma'moon, Ma'moun, Ma'mun, Maamoun, Maamoon, etc.

Personally I think the most accurate way to write it is Khalil Ma'moun but it's no more correct than the others. Some Arabs would even write it 5alil Ma2moon

The apostrophe/the numbers represent sounds nonexistent in English

Ok good info there.

I got another question.

I've been told from members in this forum that the original KMs have the Craving, but I've seen this one here:

It is a stamp from the bottom of the ashtray. The guy was showing his KM for an original one.

Then I saw these two:

Those are cravings, but they are sooo different. I'm trying to find some stuff to be able to know if what I see is real KM or fake.

Interestingly enough, this has been a concern of mine for a while as well.

I don't want to hijack your thread so I'm just going to start a new one and throw a link to it.

I think we're asking some of the same questions.
