teq
These 80mm fan grills can be had for about a dollar at any electronics store. It extends the rim of your bowl so you can balance coals right around the very edge. They're steel, so they manage to heat the bowl evenly, also. Johnny_D
That is not a bad idea at all actually. I'm liking that a lot!I never dangle coals over the edge but would certainly help I think. Going to try this tonight JD
teq
Oh, it's probably very apparent from the picture, but thought I'd mention it anyway:It also prevents the coals from weighing down the foil, which should help a lot with phunnels. This will help nicely if you have a bowl that is small but deep. Makes it possible for you to dangle them on the small bowl without burning your carpet. NICE!-H&S

I got tons of em about my house.Yeah, they really look ugly for computer cases, especially when they sell laser cut and etched grills now. It's amazing what you can recycle out of the junk drawer. I was merely trying to find a pen cap that would fit in the stem to use as a diffuser. I came up with something a lot better that I'll post once I finish testing it. teq
I hate to pat myself on the back, but I've tried not using it and it just isn't the same.Being able to rotate the coals just by rotating the grill(with my fingers, nonetheless) is amazing. teq
QUOTE (voski @ Apr 25 2008, 09:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>have you tried this as a replacement for the foil?Yes, I find that the pressure is inadequate for my tastes. More water in the base could solve this, but that still brings me to my second point:I can't stand ash falling on my shisha.
vin13
The grills are chrome plated I believe, any reason to worry about how healthy it is to use them?
