Kalutika
I have tried a couple double apples at this point, the most recent of them being Romman. The Romman double apple give me nothing but a strong anise flavor that I truly can not enjoy. There is no apple to speak of. I was wondering if there is something that I can do differently or something I should be aware of with flavors like this.I thought that acclimation may be an issue and have been doing so today. The shisha has also been in a sealed container for the last couple weeks with small intervals of exposure and acclimation. Please help.
Stuie
you must have got a bad batch or something. I order 250g of it couple times a year never had an anise flavored one.
mj_b90
You don't want your double apple to have anise flavor? Then don't buy double apple.
MechAnt
DA itself is pretty much just an aniseed flavor. Different brands vary in taste a bit. For the most part, expect licorice. It's just natural. If you hate licorice, move on to another flavor.
mathuv
try AF esk apple if you're looking for an anise-free apple
Kalutika
Not looking for anise free. I enjoy the bite in the background. I would just be happy to have apple in my double apple.Oh well.
MechAnt
Nakhla DA. Old school shisha. It's pretty much the benchmark for any DA on the market.
mushrat
As said above, Nakhla 2 apple is pretty much the industry standard. Al Amir 2 apple is a nice ballance as is Al Ajamey. If it says 2 apple or double apple or Bahraini Apple, it's going ot have licorice (anise) in it. It's just the way it is.... I will look into the nakhla. I do enjoy the background notes of anise, but a total lack of apple makes my mouth unhappy.
Codename067
As mentioned, Nakhla is the way to go with Double Apple. Used to smoke that so much back in the day.I still have a 50g sample that I pack every once in a while...with Mint of course.
erufiku
Nakhla DA and Mint... mmm, mouth watering. Saving my DA at the moment though so I'll settle for some sweet melon tonight. Does it mix with mint?
cymptom
Nakhla Double Apple has a good balance of anise flavor. Tangiers Apple I think has a little less anise than Nakhla DA and is my personal favorite.
