Holly sent it via first class international mail and it only took a week and a half to get here, in the UK I ordered two small Tangier funnel bowls and a scalli mod. Bowls are black-green and black-blue.Like the title promises, here are pics and a comparison with my immitation funnel bowl. Which I'm now starting to call the European funnel bowl. It's a pity Tangiers doesn't export stuff. The German shisha community is huge, they're nuts for it! Its probably something to do with the Turkish community. Well someones making a killing.Anyway, PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!I haven't smoked from the Tangiers funnel. But first impressions are that its at least 50% deeper than the European funnel, it parts closer to twice as deep! I'm not sure if thats such a great thing. After a session with the European funnel about half the tobacco is unburnt, hmmm, I wonder if I'll get worse performance from the Tangiers? The European is marginally wider.The hole in the middle is also smaller. But I dont think it matters much. I sucked hard from the base of both bowls, the Tangiers gives marginally better airflow, but with regular inhalation you can't notice any difference. The hole in the European is more than adequete, its not going to be the bottle neck in your shisha.Also the inside of the European is painted, while the Tangiers is rough and chalky. However the Tangiers bowl feels nice and heavy, like its made of good stuff! I like how it feels in my hand, it has a good texture to it. It also has less glazing.I reckon the Tangiers bowl will be awesome for smoking Tangiers! But I get the impression its not going to make much difference when you smoke anything else. Soon you will be making a nice donut that will pop out when you have smoked all the tobacco up. The tobacco that is not used means you could have still smoked it. shisha fan Posted April 21, 2008 Share Posted April 21, 2008 i have two of those imitation phunnels and a real one. the tangiers bowl is bigger and heavier, the imitations are sort of weak and break easily. the hole in the middle is also a bit too small and somewhat restricts the airflow.but you can`t beat the price (5 euros). manic007 Posted April 21, 2008 Author Share Posted April 21, 2008 WOW!!Ok I take it back, the Tangiers bowl is categorically better!! Its PERFECT for smoking Tangiers!! As in the heat management is SO much easier, it must be the black coating. I've also smoked some Nakhla and it smoked really well!I think the size is rather deceptive, it appears to hold just slightly more tobacco than the European; just under 25g of Nakhla and about 35-40g of Tangiers when packed hard (both without the mod).Oh yes, thats the scalli mod and not jizz - although I was a bit excited when I got the package but not that excited!! I got the mod from Neal, $10, but you have to ring up and ask for it, its not advertised on the site. To be honest DPG doesn't advertise a lot of things, if you dont see it on their site, I say ring up Holly Dont get me wrong the European bowl isn't bad, performance wise probably about 90% to the Tangiers, but you can't beat the real McCoy ™. I havent compared it to the Euro version because they dont exist here and 26 bucks is beyond insane for shipping.
