NJE03
So I have heard many time that barbacue charcoal is bad or may kill you if used to smoke, thus I have never used it, but nor have I questioned why it is bad. So I am curious, what exactly is making the use of barbacue charcoal bad for you to smoke? (just something I wonder)
Stuie
Just read the bag, don't have any switched to propane, but breathing it can be dangerous. A lot has lighter fluid infused throughout. The amount of Methane and CO2 Produced is astonishing. That's basically the main reason.

SimplexCoda
I know a guy who used it once because he ran out of regular coal. Of course he was mostly drunk at the time, but he got very sick after wards.

Codename067
I use 100% Natural charcoals [Meant to BBQ use]. Been using it form a while now..I am completely fine. All that you gotta make sure for is that the coals get 100% done. I usually put mine on a single burner..I put like 4-5 pieces..let them get started, and then I get a cardboard piece and start 'fanning' the coals in my small coal pan to make sure they get done nicely. staygone
Kingsford charcoals are treated differently than natural bbq/hookah charcoals. DO NOT smoke with them unless you want to get sick. Doesn't matter if they're red hot, don't use em. There is a reason why they say never bbq inside your house, other than the fact that it'll smell like a campfire.Kingsford emit more CO, alot more CO than our hookah charcoals. That's what kills people.Fun fact, our bodies readily absorb CO 240X more so than O2. -QM Edited April 21, 2008 by QuiltedMaple

For some reason, quicklights love to absorb chemicals.
