sensae
Okay, I've been slowly working through my box of exoticas, and I've gotta say I really like them. I've found one odd thing with them though. When I'm using my phunnel, there's pretty much a straight shot down into the base, and ash works it's way into the water. I wouldn't care normally and it wouldn't be a concern, but after about an hour of this the ash actually starts to act as a bubbling agent in the water. It's not that big an issue, as I can just change the water out when I switch bowls before it gets that bad. Has this happened to anyone else? Voski
You dont need a hole in the middle of the foil.
oolatec
That's the one nice thing about the Scalli mod for the phunnel... keeps ash out.
sensae
With a fake scalli, it doesn't cause the issue and that is what's nice. Also, ash finds it's way in there even without a hole in the center. I just wondered if it happened to other people.
Jeff_T
I never get anything close to that happening. Ash them on the tray, thats why its there. Like was said, don't need a very big hole in the middle of the foil.

Voski
You don't need to add stuff or buy new coals just don't put a hole over the phunnel down shaft and you will be fine.

Scoop
i use exoticas, and add a bunch of holes in the middle of phunnel (i hope lots of holes everywhere) and never have a problem with the ash getting into the vase.

austinthecity
i use a hole in the middle, just don't get ash in it...when you ash the coals, pick them up and drop them on your tray from a few inches up. then blow off the top of the bowl. then replace them.shouldn't be too hard to manage your ash
