N00b Question

Recommended Posts

Alright, n00b question but I didn't see it anywhere here.

Do I need to get two bowls, or can I just scrape out and put in new sheesha/add new coals? I just finished smoking some double apple, and I am wanting to keep smoking tonight, but I only have one bowl. Will I need to go buy a new bowl tomorrow or can I re-use it? I assume if I let it cool down some I can just be patient? Thanks for any help, and sorry if this is a common question, it just didn't come up on my search.

thanks for the swift replies! ironic, typed the post, went to take a shower, got back and the bowl was cool enough to change out! Nice to know I can just re-use though, I plan to have a few bowls this weekend for sure!

hmmm, I have some gloves out in the work truck for welding, I am sure those will work for holding a hot bowl, not much for dexterity when you wear them though! I was amazed how fast it all cooled down to be honest. Another quick question though, the tobacco on top was charred a bit, in fact all of it was cooked, is this normal? I thought at the end it was tasting a little off, maybe I got some charcoal through the foil into the tobacco? Any tips for keeping it from charring or is that normal? Thanks again guys for the help, I am really enjoying the Hookah.

P.S. had a friend tell me that soex herbal sheesha was very good, but I'm not sure so I'll ask here, sorry if it's the wrong spot to ask!

We don't have any real fans of Soex here, most say it tastes awful compared to the real deal. I haven't tried it myself though.

No gloves are needed for the hot bowl, you get used to the burn after a couple times... you can rinse the bowl while it's hot, no need to let it cool down. Just remember to rinse it with warm/hot water, otherwise the temp. difference might end up cracking it!

And yes, the charred tobacco is completely normal. Edited by AKammenzind

Good to know about the char, it was only the 5th time I've smoked it, and it was by far the best smoke I've gotten so far, so I was hoping I didn't mess it up. My local shop doesn't carry soex in any case so I'd have had to order it online. I may try it at a friends house first before I decide to buy any. Thanks AK, and yes, I know about the water temp, I read about that (specially when washing a cold base). thanks again all for the fast replies.

*edit* Just found the reviews forum, reading about Soex now, as well as lots of others. Sorry for the n00bness! Edited by Zyram

Soex is definitely not worth even looking at let alone spending money on. Bowls can go directly into to cool water to wash them and you can change shisha within a few seconds. Just be careful with glass bowls as the rapid temp change will shatter it.

Going in a month to visit some friends out of state, if they still like soex I'll try some there. Until then, I have many more flavors to try at my local shop and online. I will definitely pay attention to the water temp when washing. When you change the tobacco should you also change the water or does is not matter? maybe add some more ice or? I appreciate the info.
