Metal Screens

so i decided to pull out on of my metal screens for the first time. Im currently using it on my mod bowl with 2 1/4 exotica coals and af shisha. ITs kind burnin the back of my throat, any ideas?

It's probably just harsh or a bad screen. I've had bad screens burn the back of my throat. SS makes an excellent screen that's true stainless steel.

I have had no problems with screens, I think you simply have too much heat being applied.

Ya, the screens tend to need less coal once they get going. They retain heat better than foil i think. Also check the size of your holes. Some screens have these monster holes that let a lot of ash build up on the shiha thus screwing with your heat levels as well.

I used my screen at first and had that problem, it has HUGE holes in it, I put foil over it once and it was alright, but then tonight I used just foil, pulled nice and tight, and it was the best smoke I've gotten. I'm new though, but I have no love of screens already (at least the one that came with my Hookah, cause of the massive holes). I may look at the local shop for some better screens, but I think just plain foil is good enough?

i always use my screen unless im at my buddies and i forget it.

i find that the screen is just as good as foil, and is alot easier, except cleaning it as opposed to throwing it away.

I typically use a screen but i use foil occasionally... Mush is right you have to use less coal with a screen in my experience... I use 4 CN's on foil and 3 on a screen.

I like the screens, I only use mine once in a while now... for me, its less coal, but you really have to manage it

How do you keep the ash out of your shisha? That is my main problem with a screen.

these have been discussed many times before. they are not worth it. just get hd reynolds wrap.

The screen you get with the Hemi bowl is really nice. I ordered a Hemi, but it was not in time to get the special where you get the bowl and screen. I did not get the screen, but I did see the one Canon had when he came to FL when I was there. I will have to order one and check it out. It is made from stainless steel and the hole pattern and size is perfect on it. I am not a fan of screens, but I want to try this set up out.

you could use foil and a screen, put the foil down, put the screen on top and put the holes through the holes of the screen.

would be completly pointless, but im gonna bet somebody is gonna try it now lol, and who knows, maybe somehow it will make the smoke a whole bunch thicker, and it will be called the bush method

The SS stainless steel screen is quite excellent. I got my best clouds from Fusion Cacuts Pear from the Hemi bowl w/ screen.

hmmm... i think ill take that one

but yea, i used screens at first and now use foil. I always keep my screen on hand incase i run out of foil though. Ive noticed that i get thicker smoke with foil. And for those of you that smoke Hookah-Hookah (the very few) I've found screens work better than foil.
