OC4111
So I think I'm going to go ahead and make the switch to natural coals. I added a sample pack of Exoticas to my order from DPG to try them out. I also have been hearing about Coco Naras which I'll try some out when I order my Nammoor hose from HS in a couple of weeks. I was looking through HC's website and I saw these coconut charcoals and wondered if anybody had tried these or heard anything about them. Let me know.http://hookahcompany.com/coconut_hookah_ch...l_1121_prd1.htm
Voski
I haven't tried them. I was going to order them but I decided to wait a few weeks for coco-naras to release. Maybe I will buy a box the next time I order tangiers if no one has reviewed these yet.
heebo
I was looking at the same coals since I'm getting tired of the quicklites.
austinthecity
one of the things i like about coconaras over exoticas is that you don't have to break them...
indian_villager
They smell like hell when lighting them! I'm still unsure weather or not they leave a taste when being used. George from HC says they don't but I'm going to try some exoticas and fill you in!
Bulldog_916
I like exoticas cuz I can size them the way I want to. Sometimes the amount of heat on the bowl is dependent on the size of the coal you're using. I've had that happen multiple times now. I'm really happy when I dial that aspect in. The coconaras look like small cubes. Sure they may be damn good, I dont doubt that. But I like customizing every aspect to the smoke I'm having. Including breaking coals. I dont mind it. It's a 2min job to break say 4 sticks and it's not too messy. However I do like the enviromental aspect of coconara's. Not that i've purchased any though JD
erufiku
Same price as coconaras for me locally (1.50$/16pcs), but that being said I think all coconut coals are pretty good. In Europe they've got Cocobrico coals which are apparently the same thing as Coconara. I don't really buy into the whole 'customization' aspect of the coals you posted... they've got break lines, so good luck trying to break them any other way than the manufacturer intended. Also, don't know about other coconut-shell based coals, but Coconaras are a b*tch to break in half (did it twice and almost cut me finger clean off ) because they're so compressed. Upside is that they never broke on me durins a session.
Snoopy1966
Exoticas are good coals if you are lucky enough to get them. My batting average with them is way below the .500 mark. Not good IMO, but, I am using some now that I recently got from MNH and they are good. I have been weary of using them, I am glad I got a good batch. Coconaras are the best coal, not doubts for me. I would like to try this kind also to check them out. I do not mind paying a little more for something I KNOW will be a good product, meaning the coconaras. Because if there isn't then these are a hell of deal. 104pcs for $9.95 vs. 84pcs for $14.95, 20 extra pieces for $5 less? Just don't know how goo they are. I mean someone has got to try them first...if all else fails resell them on eBay that's what I do with coals I hate...hahahahaha
