Idk, but this stuff burns hella fast and it always tastes burnt and it is very weird since it is a VERY juicy tobacco. I was smoking out of the standard egyptian bowl that came with my KM.

yes, my coals were red hot and I let them sit for a few minutes to ash over b4 putting them on the head. Yes I cleaned my hookah prior and no I did not use a lot of coals lol

I thought it was the bowl, so used a phunnel to test it out. Same prob. The holes weren't that big and I didn't put on too many. AHH! Idk whats wrong! i like this flav, it just that it tastes like burnt ass! I tried the same setup of with the same amount off coals plus the phunnel with AF Mint and no probs whatsover

Even if I put on less coals with a windcover, there isn't a lot of smoke.

BTW the prod. date is April 2007 so it isn't old at all. And there wasn't tobacco stuck on the foil and I packed up to the rim

I was using 1/3 of an exotica coal.

Is any one else's batch of this stuff heat sensitive? What can I do?

trya double layer of foil with a ring made of foilin the center... i dont know how to explain it hopefully it makes sense
1) foil the bowl like normal, poke holes like normal
2) roll foil into a flat long piece about 8 inches long, 1/4 inch tall
3) roll long foil into a ring and place above step 1
4) place ANOTHER foil over that, poke holes and you should be set

dont pack so much in the bowl

What kind of foil are you using? Heavy Duty? Thats all I can think of...

try this....


Let the tobacco sit out like Tangiers for an hour. Mix it real well and then do a full bowl. Work the coal from the outside of the bowl to the inside. That should do it.

That's quite strange. AF is a very forgiving brand. Exoticas vary in heat even amongst the box. Try a more consistent coal and see if that helps. In my experience, AF responds to 3Kings very well!.

yeah, that is true because 3kings produces a hotter temp.

I am using heavy duty foil so double the foil won't do much cuz that is way too much foil.

How big are the pieces you're using?

Try putting them close to the sides of the bowl.. or even try breaking them into smaller pieces and placing them on all 4 sides of the bowl instead of 2.

Lol in the first post I said I cleaned it

I fluffed it up and it wasn't touching the foil. I'm letting it air out and I'm gonna see if that helps

the past few days when i've been smokin esk. i've just dropped some shisha in the bowl, throw the foil over tight, no sagging, normal amount of holes and 2 1/4 pieces of exoticas rotating around the edge of the bowl. can get a good 2hrs out of my egyptian bowl and great flavor the whole time
