that is 16 (I am 18) and he wants to try the hookah. The problem is is that im not letting him get into tobacco or nicotine and im a lawful person. What im wondering is, is using an herbal shisha (soex for example) legal for people under 18 in the USA? Since it is not tobacco or anything illegal and my second question is (just because i think me and my brother could bond if we were non-regualrly smoking herbal hookah together) would smoking herbal shisha be bad for him cause hes 16. I couldnt find any laws on smoking non-tobacco products, if someone could help me it would be great. i live in Maine if that helps for laws

that might be the thin red line to hookah smoking but i started smoking when i was 11 because i lived in israel at the time and that is just the culture and im perfectly fine and normal

That sucks that it is illegal. It might be herbal but I still wouldnt mind trying it. Can you find any document claiming that it is illegal?

Yeah I mean im not afraid of police or antyhing like that. My parents just doesnt want my brother doing it if its illegal, they said it was fine if it was legal. Which really bums me out, i kinda wanted to smoke a hookah with my bro.

actually, come to think of it...it depends on where you live.
where I live in Pittsburgh, it was always illegal to purchase under 18 anything tobacco related, but not to smoke. My senior yr in highschool, the borough that was in passed an ordinance making it illegal for anyone under 18 to smoke on public property with a fine of $150, there are only a couple of boroughs in the region that does that...so it very well could be legal for him to smoke, just not purchase...gotta look up your ordinances

Yeah, the only things that I have read are strictly about tobacco products but i have no proof that its illegal and i havent seen any proof that it is legal. So im kind of stuck here. Hopefully someone will stumble across some kind of proof.

I would let him smoke if your parents don't care. Honestly he can be doing things a lot worst then smoking hookah. None of his friends have a hookah? I would honestly be surprised if he has never smoked it before. Look at it from his point of view. He sees you doing it and your only two years older then him which isn't a big difference at all. I smoked before I was 18 the first time and so has almost everyone else I know.

But ultimately the decision lies on you. My sister is almost 16 and I won't let her smoke. My parents think I am a bad example and whenever she even jokingly mentions wanting to smoke I get lectured about how I am being a bad example. And if I do let her smoke I know she will use it to extort me someday.

Honestly, if you are on your own property, it's up to you. I'd let him smoke with me if he were my brother. I dont think the cops are gonna bust down your door to arrest you because you're allowing one of your family members to smoke with you. If he doesnt do it with you he'll find a loophole. My cousin does that all the time. He's 16 and his friends (18+) will go to the hookah bar with him and he'll smoke with them. Legal, no, but people do illegal shit all the time, from the steering wheel to crossing the street. Doesnt make it right, no, but if it doesnt do anyone else any harm and you let him in on what risks he's taking, he's old enough to make that choice. My $0.02.

Yeah, Im not seen as a bad example but I probably would be considered one if I let him smoke. I guess I could just get soex and show my parents to see if they OK it. No none of his friends have hookahs, mine is the first one hes ever seen being used.

Legal to smoke at 16


Soex is legal to smoke, otherwise, the restaurant that serves soex to the underclassmen( HS) in my city would be in trouble.

Yeah, i guess ill let him have some hookah when i light it up in a few minutes. I have some Nakhla apple that we will smoke. Im in maine US.

Well, I Lit it up real nice so he could get some nice few hits/drags off of it and really just have a good first experience. Since he only wanted a few of them hes done now and Im currently still puffing on it. He said he loved it alot. Funny though he acted like me before I was about to smoke out of one for the first time. He was afraid of it being harsh and of coughing alot from it. Haha his first hit/drag was small but had some smoke, and i said "breathe in until you can no longer breathe" so he did and exhaled a huge cloud for his second hit/drag and then he says "Wow! i didnt even feel it". He takes a few more, attempts to do smoke rings (which i still cannot do and i want to learn! but dont know where to start) and says that hes done. That was really cool, Im glad he got to do it.

For the rings. Make your mouth into the shape of an O sortof like when you boat. Then you want to make a click/coughing noise with your throat. When you get the hang of it it will be inaudible. Don't use your lungs to make the rings just your throat. GL!

My gf's rents let her 16 year old brother smoke with us, hell they always let there 11 year old take one puff just to try the flavors usually.... I should also add that her rent's smoke with us all the time. You may wanna check on State Law's, for instance her in Texas parents can legally buy drinks for there kids in restraunts and give it to them. There may be a similar law for tobacco....
