Phunnel Bowl

should i get one? is smoking tangiers from a normal bowl a bad idea? all the vids i've seen on how to pack it had phunnel bowls.

a phunnel is great not only for tangiers my friend because it maintains the flavoring from the shisha

with a phunnel do you have to pack it tight for optimal use?im thinking of getting a small but dont wanna go thru 40-50 grams a sesh

with tangiers yes but just pack it like a standard bowl when smoking anything else mine is only 27 grams when i pack it with SB and 35 grams when packed tight with tangy (i LOVE the usb scale i picked up after seeing another thread. my phone weighs 223 grams lol)

the small and remember they are all made by hand so they will vary but they are worth every penny

The funnel bowl is useful, but by no means a pre-requisite for a good smoking session.

Mine is just too damn big for my nargile and can't be used with a wind cover. It also eats tobacco like crazy!

But it's a useful tool in the arsenal and some tobacco's certainly will respond a little better in a funnel.

+1 to JD it does help with some but it can really botch up some shisha if your not selective and the best way to find out is to either hit up the forum or grab a 50g sample instead of plunking down alot of money for a 250g package and i have had some of my best sessions with a mod bowl but with tangiers a phunnel cant be beat

I tried Layalina out of a Phunnel on Nick's mya. It was smooth, easy to hit, and cloudssssssss!

I have the Tangiers small funnel; its practically a prerequisite for smoking Tangiers. But for smoking regular tobacco (Nakhla, AF), I find that about half the tobacco is unburnt, this doesn't happen with a more traditional bowl.

The issue is that the hot air stream only makes contact with the top layer of tobacco. Once that burns it makes a hard layer and you stop tasting anything. In contrast, with a traditional bowl the hot air goes all the way through the tobacco, so you get a more even heating. Of course the lower part will get less heat, but overall I find that a traditional bowl "wastes" less tobacco.

To regurgetate what others have said, a phunnel bowl can help improve the flavour of certain tobacco.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but i was reading that tangiers isnt good when smoking with water-ice, and to use normal roomtemp water...why is this? woudlnt the room temp. water make it harsh?

Nope....gives it more flavor. And as for harsh....you dont even need water in your pipe really. I had a session of tangiers with nothing in the base lol. It actually turned out just fine.

A phunnel bowl is amazing! I agree that you do not need one to have a good session. I had great sessions with my standard clay bowl but with a phunnel it adds so much flavor and the heat management is so much easier.
