Al Fakher Grape, Apparently It's Not Over Folks

It might not just be the grape. I ordered a 250g tub of AF pineapple and when I opened it it smelled somewhat like pineapple but not completely. I figured once I started smoking it it would be just fine. It's AF after all. About 10 minutes into smoking I notice a taste at the back of my throat. It wasn't a harsh taste, I couldn't place it the 1st time. The 2nd time I smoked the same thing happened. And then it hit me. My throat felt like as if somebody had pepper sparyed the back of my throat. I had a spaicy taste back there. I smelled the shisha and sure enough it smelled like pineapple sprinkled with like cayenne pepper. My roomate confirmed the smell.

Yea we dont even carry it in the shop anymore its that bad now days. i don`t care what the date is. I had my distributor talk to them and sierra says its the flavor they are siing and its not changing. So as you can guess Living in Vegas I am not much of a gambler so i don`t want to gamble on good Vs Bad batches either. I say liek someone else said Just pick a new flavor and move on from this 1.

Damn it... I should have read this before I went out and bought some AF Grape today... I'm going to be smoking it within the next couple of days so I'll try to get back to you guys ASAP.

I just opened up the package and it had that disgusting smell of ketchup... but not just any kind of ketchup, it was almost chemical-like. I'm not going to be able to smoke my hookah for a couple of days so if anyone can put in some feedback about how it actually tastes/smells when smoking, that'd be wonderful. The fucked up thing is i have a tub of AF vanilla that smokes up just fine.

i have only ever had problems with AF grape and no other AF flavor.BUT if you acclimate AF grape for about 2 weeks it smells like grape but is WAYYYYYYYYY too dry to smoke

Mine was opened, and the AF bag itself was in a ziplock bag. It still smelled and tasted like rancid ketchup. I bought mine from hookahcompany and I gave them a call, asking about the merchandise. He said it was a fresh batch, straight outta customs and that he put it in a ziplock bag because it was so juicy. I dunno... it still tasted horrible.

That would be correct. The package was opened (the inside AF bag was opened) and repackaged.

I just smoked the Ketchup-scented AF Grape and I must say, the flavor SUCKED. It tasted nothing like grape... instead it was just a thick smokey flavor... almost flour-tasting. I plan on exchanging this grape flavor for another one. I don't think I'll ever be smoking AF Grape again.

Yes. I made it through about 4 pulls, it's disgusting. Not it's-kinda-gross-but-I-can-deal-with-it disgusting, more like I-think-I'm-gonna-gag disgusting. I also have a 250g tub of AF Gold Red Grape that has a hint of the ketchup ass smell, but the flavor isn't too bad. I have a kg of AF (multiple flavors) on the way so I'm really hoping they are okay. Otherwise it's hello Nakhla....

I don't think ketchup is very common in the Middle East (confirm? deny? I know it's very uncommon in Latin America), so the producers at Al Fakher wouldn't relate it to that.

you do know McDonalds and Burger King and all manner of food chains are worldwide, right? If I'm not mistaken, the only countries without McDonalds are Iraq (coming soon! Thanks Bush!) Iran and Syria. (McDonalds- Israel) and I've even been to/seen a KFC, Burger King and Pizza Hut in Dubai.

AF grape is one of the best sheesha flavours.
Truthfully i've never had problems with it, but since i've joined this forum i hear a lot about the "Ketchup" problem
So now im worried my new stock could have these problems. Dont want to lose customers because of it

I tried smoking it once again today and it wasn't as bad... To be honest, it tasted almost normal. I let it air out a lot and mixed it around a lot before I tried to smoke it and the smoke/flavor came out pretty well.

I ordered the buy 10 get 10 deal last week and the first of the 10 pack of grapes that I recieved smelled and smoked just fine. its dated feb 2008, so I dont know whats going on, or if its just every so often there is a bad batch, but every batch ive recieved, this being the third since fall, has been fine. maybe im just lucky. Either way it's a great flavor and hopefully they work on quality control so they dont keep losing customers.

A side note I also got peach, mango, and cocktail and all of them are good. Peach is one of my new favorites.
