mattarios2
I was flipping around other forums today (When hookahforum was down) and read on a forum that if when you put the coals on the bowl if it sizzles it either means A.) Too much tobacco or B.) The tinfoil is bending too low.Is this true? I usually have good sessions and usually it always sizzles when the coals go on. FireMeetsIce
That is the juices sizzling if the foil is touching the tobacco. Apparently mush always packs his bowls to the top, but for most everyone else it is a bad thing. If it works for you it's all good though. How do you go about putting the foil on, i've watched vids and such and iv'e been a hookah smoker for years now, but I would like to try and get one going without the sizzle action. I usually just hold the foil tightly and sit it over the bowl and push two sides (oposite sides) down and then go around the bowl. I also use HD reynolds, maybe I should double up HD reynolds? staygone
When you poke holes into the foil, some of the juices make there way to the top (by means of the poking apparatus) and onto the surface of the foil. When the coals are applied, the juices on the surface of the foil burn off.If the bowl is smokin', leave it be. Mine does EVERY time, and I have no problems.-QM
MechAnt
It's not a problem at all by any means. People have the misconception that shisha touching the foil is bad, it really isn't. You just require less heat. If its smoking well, don't try to change too much cause it's just fine.

I poke my holes with a thumbtack so it goes really shallow and probably doesn't get to the juices... But, yeah, it isn't a bad thing.

Victim026
Yeah, I usually find the bowl to be underpacked if it doesn't sizzle at least a little when I throw the coals on. I pack em thick like mush does.
chinamon
i pack my bowls right to the rim (but i dont let it form a mound above the rim) and it always sizzles when i put my coal on. never had a problem with it either.

The Devils Playground
Sounds like soemthing is Wet. It happens to us when theres a wet bowl rim or when the tobacco is really wet.
Johnny_D
My Nahkla sizzles! It's ok - Someone people have got a bug up there ass about foil not touching tobacco. Which is bloody stupid given that the original tobacco's used to have a coal thrown right into the tobacco - no Foil/Screen what so ever!So don't sweat it - Enjoy the sizzle!JD - sizzling.
