OC4111
I just had my first Tangiers session last night. Tangiers Mixed Fruit. It wasn't quite what I expected. I didn't get the awesome flavor that everybody talks about. Didn't get the harsh smoke others have talked about either. Here are the steps I took. If anybody can see something that I may have missed or need to improve on, let me know. 1) I let it acclimate first for 4 hours and then another 10. 2) Stirred it up for a minute or 2 before I packed the bowl. (even after the acclimation and stirring the smell hardly changed. There was a very light fruit scent that came and went) 3) Packed the bowl. added shisha to the top of the medium phunnell bowl, pressed it down when I placed the foil on top4) Used a tootpick to make holes. toothpick went all the way to the bottom making the holes bigger than I have normally made.5) started with 2 1/4 pieces of exotica coal and added a 3rd when those were about to finish off. I got good smoke. I didn't notice any harshness, did notice the nicotine. I had been smoking SB and AF. But i got no flavor. I figured it was maybe the acclimation so I let the shisha set out over night, about another 9 hors, but when I go to smell it the flavor is barely noticable. Any ideas? NickReppinThe909
try eating a little sorbet before you smoke it a old trick from high class restaraunts for cleansing the palate of flavor
OC4111
What about the fact that the scent of the shisha is very light? I can smell the tobacco just fine but the mixed fruit is hardly noticable.
Scoop
im really glad i dont order tangiers online.i think the bbq taste and no flavor have to come from humidity shock from the storage / shipping process.don't know what to tell you, ive never had tangiers with no flavor. Tikhman
try using a few more coals, maybe 2 1/3's of exoticas. the medium phunnel is pretty large, though you will be probably walking a fine line on your way to getting it harsh.
OC4111
I don't know if I want to do that. The smoke I was getting was pretty good. I'm not complaining about that. I guess my thing is everybody talks about how good this stuff smells after acclimation and I haven't gotten that. I'm gonna try again tonight I left it out when I left this morning so it's going to acclimate for about another 11 hours, maybe that'll help.
