Basically acclimation is where you set the tobacco out to adjust to your smoking enviroment's humidity and temperature. Tangiers has been known not to smelll like the tobacco flavor so it tends to need acclimation to get it right. Most people acclimate the tobacco until it smells like what it should.

i regard the issue as bs. i have never ever heard of it except a few websites including around here. i have tried it and have never felt a difference what so ever. It doesnt have an impact so feel free to do it or not if you ask me. important to know is that i have not smoked any u.s. made shisha. maybe its essential to these tobaccos.

If you havent smoked any US made shishas then you really don't have a frame of refrence. Or perhaps, since it will make a difference with tobacco like Nakhla, which even my middle eastern friends say they let sit out, you are missing something and don't know it. Instead of the knee jerk constant harping on us made tobacco I've notice from you, you should actually try something new or different to expand your horizons. THEN you can say it's bs or not. But if you've never tried it I suggest you keep the "it doesn't work." to yourself.

For those of you who actually are interested in learning about something new, You can tell the difference in flavour with several unwashed brands from tangiers to Nakhla and Layalina if you let them sit out 6-8 hours.

so you only need to do it once. not everytime then?

The initial airing out is the most important. If you have the chance about an hour or so ahead of time to open the tub up and stir it a might it never hurts.

100% Agree Mushrat.

I allways let my Nahkla sit out for a good 4 hours. Break it all up, Mix with a fork to seperate it and let it breath.

Kinda like a good wine. Sure you can uncork and drink... But to really release the flavour, let it breath for a few hours smile.gif
