maybe tangiers failed... ever think of that?

I'm wondering if that's the case in my situation. I was able to get pretty good smoke but no harshness that I can think of.

No, if that happened the very fabric of the universe would come apart. The elder people called it Hoocalypse I believe: "On the first day of the End, all coals brittled when touched by tongs. On the second day, all hookah hoses rusted beyond repair. And on the third day all shisha tobacco turned into soex, except for Romman Grape, because it would be impossible for that to get any worse".

The end is not near. Besides anything by Romman is the worst.

maybe failure failes and you did it right!i'll be honest, i've tried quite a few shisha's i'm not going to toot my horn or anything because it doesn't matter however, whats the deal with tangiers?! why does everyone say it's so hard to smoke? it really discourages me, maybe one day... but not this day!

I think of it often enough. Tangiers has been very hit and miss for me. I had a great experience with melon and k-peach, but everything else I've tried has been extremely touchy.

It's amazing how brainwashed some people are regarding it, though. They assume that if you can't get it to smoke properly you somehow didn't call the number on the container, didn't watch the videos, didn't read the tutorials, or just haven't tried to figure it out yourself at some point. It couldn't possibly be the shisha... rolleyes.gif

I've been smoking other brands for over a year as well without any problems. Yet others have had problems. I mean, I've never had a container of AF Grape smell like ketchup. With tangiers those that have had a problem are numerous. It's hard to blame it all on poor bowl packing/heat management, especially when many of us have tried just about everything besides having someone physically setting it up for us. I might make a trip down to So. Cal. this summer since a few friends are going, but normally that would be a long way to go just to get a good smoke. Edited by Ralleac

Do I dare say this as an avid Tangiers smoker...I do have a couple of problems with some of the older tobacco when I get it. It takes a really long time to acclimate and I have to take some out before I want to smoke. I still get it to smoke great though! I struggled with Tangiers for about a month. Getting great sessions to the OK sessions to the epic fail session. Don't give up, I have not had a bad batch of Tangiers, I think Eric's quality control is excellent making small batches at a time to provide the best Shisha on the market.

Yes packing your bowl of Tangiers makes a HUGE difference, in fact it is the key besides having it acclimated properly. Once you get to know Tangiers it is really easy to manage and be able to have a great smoke every time. Hear me now and believe me later, keep practicing even if you fill the bowl, take it out and do it again. You need a dense pack, but not to tight, the bowl MUST be filled up to the top. Big holes in the foil, cool or warm water in the vase. You can not compare Tangiers to other tobacco, because it is in a class all by itself.

That's kind of my point, though. It isn't like you said anything different. The thing is I'd generally expect better results after going through nearly 2 kilos of the stuff. 250g was passable, 250g was great, the rest? Meh. I've packed and thrown out more bowls than I can remember at this point. That's after acclimating for lengthy periods of time, seeing all the videos, going through the tutorials, and trying just about every suggestion in the book.

I will say that part of me wonders if it's my phunnel. I bought it from H-S a while back and it looks freaking tiny and shallow compared to the average bowl I see anyone using on here. Edited by Ralleac
