Snoopy1966
OK so a lot of my Tangiers I have in containers has become sticky and less juicy. The juices are there, but not as easy to mix up and it has a real sticky feel to it. I can still get a good smoke from it, but I was wondering if there is anything I could add to it to make in more juicy and less sticky. The weather change has pretty much made have to acclimate it again on some flavors. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this something I should be concerned about? I am thinking better containers then the Glad ones would help this? I usually only use a container for 2 times of the same flavor and then get a new one. I have had this experience before, but the tobacco has never been this sticky. Any ideas, solutions? Thanks.
pinky
I realized that too. The tobacco kind of lumps together making it harder to build a head, because you different amounts of tobacco in various parts of the bowl. I don't think its affecting the smoking experience. I thought at first, but its just the packing of the bowl the gave me some bad sessions. I also think that its the new Tangiers with the low cut that shows this behavior. mattathayde
maybe if you put one of the little water pillow packs used for cigars in the container with the shisha for a week or so then tried to reacclimatize it after (if it seemed like it needed it) that may moisten it back up-matt

This morning I packed the bowl a lot looser and it is working really good and I am getting some great clouds and great taste. What are the water pillow packs? I have never heard of them, and what do they do? Do they add humidity to the cigars?

Do they add humidity to the cigars?ya they are just little super absorbent pillow shaped things that come in little zip locks that have homes punched in them. they are meant to keep cigars humidified in shipment or in a bag or small humidors. you just pull the thing out, dip it in distilled water for like 20 seconds or so and then put it in the little bag and toss it in a humidor, makshift humidor, pipe tobacco or roll your own. if you just google it you should find a bunch of places with them, i think you have to buy them in packs of 12 but they are like 25 cents a pop.-matt
Johnny_D
I'd be very careful about adding water to any tobacco. I've never seen water on the ingredients list?If your confident use a glycerine/honey mix. However if your not then I'd ring Tangiers and ask the man himself [He's very rarly on the forums these days]If Mr Tangiers says add water I will be surprised... Snoopy1966
Water I think would not be a good thing. Eric where are you? Any answers for me? I wish I knew how to contact him besides a PM...I can pick up some glycerin and I have some really good honey already. I just wonder if the honey will make it more sticky though. The honey appears to break down with teh glycarin.I only use honey to ensure the glucarin gets a sweet taste and does not taste like soap.I believe that Tangiers can be reached at his lounge - Canon, Mushrat and other's should be able to get you his number. I would suggest PM'ing it. JD Edited May 5, 2008 by Johnny_D

Johnny_D
Yer, for 250g's. But it's nahkla I use it on - Even when wet Nahkla is dry I'd still try and call Eric first as we know & Understand what most tobacco is made of. However I couldn't say the same of tangiers.JD
mattathayde
well acclimating is just adjusting the humidity so i dont know if i would worry to much, same idea with keeping other tobaccos fresh. remember tobacco will absorb water or dry out to be like what is around it.-matt

Scoop
its not so much the weather change you should be worried about, but rather humidity. if the humidity changes rapidly it will be hard to get a good smoke. it has to acclimate to the humidity before you can get really good sessions. i wouldn't worry too much about it, just wait till the humidity is stable
ZenSilk
Yes, and also Cymptom has stated it many times before as well. I always re-acclimate my Tangiers with every Temp. change, as the Humidity and pressure change drastically as well over here. We just had snowfall actually not 4 days ago...Tangiers does not smoke as well in the colder months as it does in the warmer ones, so look forward to an amazingly fun summer. As a matter of fact, it's almost impossible to get a harsh Tangiers smoke in the summer in my experience...

I have acclimated it again to the humidity change we have had here, but the tobacco is so sticky, but still smokes great.
mattathayde
what i wonder is if its more so weather or not the shisha is dryer or wetter than the out side humidity. like i dont see how if the shisha is more humid you get bad smoke as well if it is dryer. it would probably take a while to figure out but i wonder if the air is more humid than the shisha if its ok where as if the shisha is more humid the air is ripping the moisture out while it is passing by it causing it to get harsh.idk just thinking out loud, but theres got to be some better science to this -matt
