not enough smoke

i have a great hookah but when i phuff on it i get little or no smokei got it at the *maask*. it's two to three feet tall i use one coal and a small amount of tobacco

Hi,
adding more coal will make it smoke more. It  depends on which shisha ma'aasal you are smoking.  For some brands, 1 coal is enough, some  need more. You can break a coal into 4 pieces, add on until you get want you want. Too much coal-heat will cook the tobacco instead of vaporizing it, when you see it smoke from the top you know its too hot. Also it will be too harsh to smoke.
Everything in hookah smoking is trial and error. Even the temperature in  the room will have an affect. I usually smoke on my outside porch. When it is very cold, I need more coal heat too.
