Km Hookah Issue

Recommended Posts

I got a KM tri-metal yesterday from Neal and was wondering if there is anything available to stabilize it? The stem and bowl vibrate when it is smoked out of using the KM hose, is this normal?

I ended up removing the plate after my 3rd session because it was rattling quite a bit as well.

Any suggestions would help.

Yeah that is normal because KM's rumble like a beast!! I use a coal tong and put one side on top of the tray and then use the other side to hold it on the place where the tray sits. It does not bother me anymore. You could always put a little weight on the tray, it does not take much to stop the rattle. I love the rummble of the KM's wub.gif

Its like a boxer engine....It's supposed to come with a nice rumble!

Yeah it already comes in a turbo package hence the rumble. I love the way it shakes the ground when I take a pull. I wonder if the downstairs neighbors can hear that on their ceiling.... huh.gif

I don't use funnels much so I always have juices from the tobacco dripping down. I learned to make clean up easier by buy a package of prefolded napkins that are just the right size to wrap around the stem on top of the piece where the ashtray sits. The nice side effect is that it stops all rattling as well.

Put a cheap o-ring under the ashtray? Could work.

Hmmmm. The mention of the O-ring sparked an interesting idea.... Go get a piece of very thin compressed cork board (i.e. one of those cheap coasters available almost anywhere (Wal Mart/ Linens-n-Things), or one of those square cork sheets used for kids' arts & crafts). Cut it into a doughnut shape to fit between the stem and tray and see if it doesn't reduce the vibrations and be heat resistant.
