Fine give up.....but know ur missing out on the best stuff on the market by far!

Eh, I've been close to giving up for a while. I've spent a pretty hefty sum of money on the stuff with mostly negative results. I might pick it up again if I ever make it to So Cal so someone can pack it in front of me and prove I'm not totally ****ing up 90% of my bowls.

The only flavor I've personally ever had problems with was raspberry. I bought it twice. I had problems twice. It tasted like tobacco. And when I brought this up to Eric, he laughed at me and said it was my own fault for buying it twice.

I had some problems at first too, but i got it smoking good. What kind of bowl are you using? I use a mod bowl and when i pack it, i put my pinky in the center, and pack it tight around it, and it smoke fine. used 1.5 3K Ql split into halves

I thought starting a few weeks ago we were no longer required to acclimate tangiers

This is not true. As far as the production process of the tobacco (with exception to how it is groomed) nothing has changed. Yes the tobacco is a little more finely cut but that is it. The changing of the seasons and humidity of final destination of the tobacco may have more to do with less acclimation time.

StarCuzz - I'm sorry to hear you feel this way about the tobacco but to each his own, everyone has different preferences. I'm not sure where you are located, but if you are in CA and ever need a hand figuring out the best way for you to setup a bowl drop me a line. You can also talk to me via AIM if you have questions (PM me for my screen name). Also, I'm sure if there is someone by you that smokes Tangiers Tobacco, they would be willing to give you a hand.

Did you ever try placing the tobacco inside of your bowl?

It's pretty funny, and I wish I had a dollar for every time someone failed at something and blamed the product for it. Remings me of my first attempts of getting tangiers to work, I was like one second away from posting a topic like this happy.gif

Glad I kept trying, though.

No you still need to acclimate, I just found you can pack a bowl right away from the newer batches and have a lot shorter acclimation time. If you go back and read my posts I never said you do NOT have too acclimate.

I've never really had some of the amazing results a lot of the more experienced people here have had, it's always been sorta average. Either the smoke is too thin or thick, or not enough flavor or too harsh. It's a weird tobacco. But I've never really had a "horrible" experience like a lot of people have had as well, never had that bbq/soy sauce taste people describe. Tangiers isn't terribly expensive compared to some brands, so I'm going to buy more flavors. My bowls with tangiers over all are getting better and better... slowly.

I would have to agree. It took me a least a month before I started getting a good session 90% of the time. I rarely have any bad bowls now, and I know what I did wrong by the taste and smoke if I do.

Is it worth the time and efforts...YES. It is all I smoke now, and nothing else matters......

first time i tried tangiers in my mya bowl it didn't taste like anything at all, but the second time i used a phunnel bowl and it was perfect i smoked peach iced tea and the flavor wasn't super strong but it was a nice subtle peach and tea flavor. a nice change too cause lately all i've been smoking is tangiers pink lemonade and blueberry. watch the video's and search the posts thats what i did for like two weeks before i ever tried it. and i don't use big hole like everybody else i use a push pin to poke my holes so there super small and i use a lot of them. that always worked better for me.

I have yet to try Tangiers(I'm in the SoCal area, so I'll be planning a trip to SD to by a few kilos at a time), but the price alone is a great selling point.

500g of Tangiers for about $6 more than 250g of Starbuzz is a no-brainer.

Theoretically, couldn't you grind it into fine pieces and pack it like any other shisha? That might be worth a shot, since you already have some on hand to play around with.

that`s just your opinion, i personally think it`s very overrated on this forum. there seems to be some sort of sheep mentality going on around here, even people that never even tried it seem to praise it. i found the kashmir peach to be decent but no more than that, the peach iced tea gave me almost no flavor whatsoever.

Honestly i can see what you are frustrated about. There has been alot of times im eagerly packin a bowl, followin the threads shown, watchin video's, only to have heaping smoke of nothing.

Last night while watching Snoopy's vids i packed a bowl. Smoked, and again, small small amount of flavor but plumes of smoke. Took the bowl off, packed a different bowl full of blue mist to save the session.

BUT i went back and decided to give the tangiers bowl another shot and HOT DAMN it tasted pretty damn good, with nice plumes of smoke. Right at that point, there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

Dunno how long its gonna take to get there, but i have 4 250gs of tangiers to get me there.
