no more overnight acclimation and it can be smoked out of the package but is much better after 4-6 hours of acclimation

i'll buy your tangy from you though starcuzz

I'm not sure where this rumor got started, but it isn't true to the best of my knoledge. He has changed nothing with Tangiers to shorten the need for accimating. The new washed stuff he's working on will not need it, but the current stuff still requires the 6-8 hours.

It's not that hard folks..really it isn't. I don't know what to tell you folks. Get a phunnel, it makes it the easiest to smoke. Pack it hard, foil, a 40 mm coal broken into quarters and placed around the bowl, SMOKE. I still bet most of you who are having troubles are just using too much coal. It's the only way, if you tobacco is properly acclimated, you can get big clouds with no flavours. You have to go against most everythign you think you know about heat levels. Once you get that solved its easy. I have also been smoking tangiers in a standard Mya bowl and a smiley's glass bowl. If *I* can do it, anyone can.

If it's underheated, you wil;l still get a kind of strange version of the taste and little smoke. If you over heat it you may get no taste or a strange intense version of parts of the taste if that makes any sense.

I use belgian natural disks now, they are 40 mm. If you are using standard 33mm ql's you may need 5 quarters or so. It takes a little while to get going because the tobacco is so wet, it takes longer to get the bowl and the heat from the coals up to vaporizing temp. so don't necessarily expect plumes of smoke in the first few minutes. If you are getting immediate clouds chances are your using too much coal and the stuff will be burning about the time it shoudl be smoking just right. I use the 4 quarters of a 40 mm, but I use a vacuum to start the hookahs so I can bring them up to a smokign temp a lot faster without using extra coal which will cause it to burn a little while later.

And yes, with a phunnel, pack it in as tight as you can to the very top of the bowl. There has to be space over the center hole for the air to curculate under the center of the foil. The foil itself can be touching the tobacco.

With any other normal type bowl, pack it like you would any other shisha, fluff it up, foil over the top, 2 to 3 small pices of coal, SMOKE.

Aint rocket science folks, just takes a little practice and patience, something i see a general lack of sometimes around here... wink.gif

whereabouts in so cal ? i'll set up some tangy for you just hit me up

I have yet to try Tangiers(I'm in the SoCal area, so I'll be planning a trip to SD to by a few kilos at a time), but the price alone is a great selling point.

500g of Tangiers for about $6 more than 250g of Starbuzz is a no-brainer.

Theoretically, couldn't you grind it into fine pieces and pack it like any other shisha? That might be worth a shot, since you already have some on hand to play around with.

the tobacco is senstive to humidity changes. if the humidity changes rapidly, it will do that

Ah, okay. I newer knew, always used cool water (and some times lots of ice cubes too).

Thanks!

I used to have troubles getting tangiers to go, and then i just followed the tutorial posted on here and it worked right away, tangiers is one of the best brands out there . Just keep trying it you will eventually get it to work.

It is just my opinon, but I also got 80% of this forum backing me up. The stuff is flat out amazing, its not for everyone, but if you get it down its worth it.

Fine give up.....but know ur missing out on the best stuff on the market by far!

that`s just your opinion, i personally think it`s very overrated on this forum. there seems to be some sort of sheep mentality going on around here, even people that never even tried it seem to praise it. i found the kashmir peach to be decent but no more than that, the peach iced tea gave me almost no flavor whatsoever.

We're only backing you up because of sheep mentality. No, seriously. I'm not capable of making my own decitions, and after reading the Tangiers-praise, I just had to believe that it was the best 'bacco around. The sad truth is that while posting this I am jacking off to the Starbuzz-cans sitting on my desk. Just to ashamed to be myself, I guess. Being an outsider ain't easy.

On a more serious note: I love tangiers and I happen to believe that I am able to enjoy good shisha regardless of what other forum-members think of it.

If you have a garage, generally, the humidity stays relatively constant from what I've found as long as you keep the door shut. It could have been sunny as hell one day and rainy as hell the next and I can take the Tangiers out and smoke it no problem. The garage is a lot slower to change when the weather changes. At least, that's my experience.

yea i live with my dad and our garage is a 5 car garage/workshop (i live on a ranch pretty much) with an apartment above it we rent out and the doors are only closed at night when we have the alarm activated or when no one is home so its like the weather outside in the garage. the weather here in the i.e. voski has been weird all week it was 92 on tuesday but rained at night on wednesday and today just flat out sucked and now its about 60.

but my concern was the weather when i first acclimated was pretty humid and cold and its starting to warm up and dry out so once i start seeing the damn 100+ degree bone dry shitty summer days should i set my tangy out for a few hours ?

oh andthank god for pools if you live in so cal or anywhere hot you know what i mean
