fifthmanstanding
Hi allI bought a hookah several months ago from a local shop, it ran me about $40 and I've cleaned it several times and it still kinda tastes bad, I've been advised to buy a new one and probably one that's stainless steel ( not the plated kind I'm told, but a solid stainless type). I'm looking to spend less that $175 and I was looking into those mya saray models, they seem very nice. I was wondering what all of your collective thoughts are on that particular brand or if it's even worth the money. Is the stainless they advertise plated or solid?thanks in advance. NickReppinThe909
no mya is 100% stainless steel they are bronze and chrome plated with some stainless parts
MechAnt
What nick said. MYA's are very nice, smoke well, look good, and parts can be easily replaced. I'd say go for it if it floats your boat. Posting here, you'll get "GET A KM!!!! GET AN MZ!!!!!!! GET A KM!!!!!!!!!!!!" but get whatever YOU like and what YOU want.EDIT: I wanted to add, I like my MYA a lot. Very easy to clean and smokes like a champ. Edited May 10, 2008 by MechAnt

fifthmanstanding
km? one of those khalil something or others?mz? what's the differences? and what would give me the longest lasting life for the product (provided it's well taken care of). And possibly stainless, or is this stainless stuff all bull?
NickReppinThe909
ALL stainless is bullshit some stainless is realistic but a MZ is decently priced and if you maintain it well it will last a lifetime. the difference between KM and MZ IMO comes down to looks (KM being the better looking)MZ=Magdy ZidanKM=Khalil Mamoun
MechAnt
MYA pipes are chrome plated brass. No need to fear for rust. KM's are currently under fire for using galvanized steel which rusts out MUCH quicker than stainless. They do make brass core pipes but the downstem is still crappy steel. MZ = Magdy Zidan which is known as a cheaper alternative to KM while still providing excellent quality of pipe and smoke. I own 2 MZ pipes and 1 MYA. I love all three of them. Brace yourself for, "GET A KM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" responses. There are differences in the looks in that KM's look very traditional egyptian pipes while MZ's are what many consider "Contemporary Egyptian". fifthmanstanding
so beyond the stainless, I'm looking for a good heavy quality, er...'pretty' hookah under $175....so there's no clear cut f'ing amazing hookah brand out there that's obviously a cut above the rest? wow..that opens up a lot of options now.and where can I purchase an mz hookah? google search gave me very very little.-oh, is it really terribly necessary to spend as much as $175 or so? I mean what's the range for a real good hookah, cuz my $40 one is not that great Edited May 10, 2008 by fifthmanstanding

MechAnt
Hookahcompany, SocialSmoke, WorldHookah. Those are the main vendors that carry them.MYA = Modern lookKM = TraditionalMZ = Contemporary EgyptianI actually like the modern look of MYA's the best and MZ's are a close second. Traditional look doesn't quite appeal to me much.

ZenSilk
Magdy Zidans are the best Egyptian Pipes right now in my opinion. Low Price, High quality. They look like they are atleast nickel plated, and the Knut at the end doesn't have little crevices whre rust forms, hides, and then shows itself (like a KM). They are light, but well made. Mya's are best for multiple smokers. The common chamber lets everyone pull at once (if they absolutely feel the need to) and Mya's are made like tanks, and will last very long wiht minimal care.
