Ituswari
alright.. it starts at CVS with a 'beer run'... and it leads to $30 bottle of jagermister as we drank and smoked some hookah i came up with the idea that most have"dude, we should turn this into a hookah"the idea was, of course universally praised.but the day after every one forgot, cept me. it lead to me goin to home depot to get an idea of the costs and a lil internet research for some kool ideas.so far all i have is the bottle, and the 'bowl'.. or what will be the bowl once im finishedplan is.. get some tubing... about a foot n a half of stainless steel tubing, thermal tape, and a cheap hose i dont care about, and this small bowl i stole from ikeatake the bowl.. its about an in or two in diameter... drill a hole.. put a small screen from a cheap tea steap, weld to a 1/2 in piece of tubing to use as a metal bowl.take 1/4 in stainless steel tubing and place throught the cap in a way as not to damage the cap too much.epoxy in place... small hole for connector off to both sides. of the tubing... one for the hose.. and one wit a ball bearing to use as an exhaust.. incase some asshole blows into the hookah.. connect small piece of hose then wrap in thermal tape. just enough so i can still screw on the cap.. and it will be FOR SURE air tight.the one thing i wanna do though...is i wanna dye the hose some how.. to make it the same green as the jager bottle.then attach a green hookah handel to the smoking end.so it doesnt look so half assed..any ideas? or comments?i'll post pictures and updates.. I'm not sure if paint work so you could try like nail polish if it comes in that color. Or even some hair coloring spray might work.
hday
You could mix an acrylic paint with an acrylic lacquer, that would make the paint transparent. Then add another coat of just lacquer to keep it from chipping. Plus it will make it shiny.
teq
Lacquer + PVC = leeching of chemicals into hose.I would use colored window tint and heat treat it, so it'll be flexible. As far as the handle is concerned, it would be a shame to build a hookah from scratch and use part of a premade hose. The only exception to this would probably be the bowl, in which case I would recommend picking up a clay bowl.It would be very sleek to integrate the handle into the hose, rather than just have it connect. If you're going to try the tint idea, you could wrap an extra layer or two of film over the portion designated to be the handle to stiffen it.If not, they sell translucent plastic tubes in all sorts of colors. Get one that's about 1/2" larger than the hose and throw a compression fitting on each end. For a pretty neat effect, you could puncture a few holes in that portion of the hose, so the smoke can swirl around the inside of the handle. Ituswari
... hmm.. im diggin the handle idea.. have some smoke swirl around while your smokin would be kool..as for the bowl.. im acutally makin a metal bowl out of a small bowl and pice of tubing... as for the tube.. i dont think i understand the tint stuff.. i guess ill have to look into it.. laqure and paint on the outside could leak in? teq
Metal bowls are very tempermental to heat and will transfer heat all the way down to your bottle if you don't insulate it with a grommet.Make sure the bowl is deep, as most of your heat will probably be coming from direct contact with the sides, rather than the air passing through. As far as the tint is concerned.... I'm sure you've seen car windows that have a black, see-through film on them. They sell it in every color. And yes, any chemicals on the outside risk permeating the hose -- the same way the hose will start to rot away if you were to leave water in it.
