Tangiers Green Apple Doesn't Taste That Great

Recommended Posts

Well after acclimating for about 24 hours earlier and another few hours today before use, Tangiers Green Apple didn't taste that great. Someone described it as tasting like Jolly Ranchers which sounded awesome, so I decided to order it. However...it tastes more like spices with a tinge of applish flavor. It's not really sweet at all and the end taste isn't that pleasurable.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Perhaps I should try cleaning out my hookah thouroughly? I noticed that the entire metal part of my Hookah smelled strongly of Kashmir after not being used for almost a week. Could that really effect the taste that greatly?

Medium Funnel, not too tightly packed, mostly dropped in clumps, even tin foil pattern with big holes...

I have Green Apple and it taste like a granny smith apple. It is very tart and it is not one of my favs, but i will smoke it once in a while. Do you have the Candy Green Apple? I have seen Green Apple and Candy Green Apple and I have wondered if there is a difference.

And yes the Kashmir, you will need to get the smell out of your Hookah. That will leave a ghost flavor for sure.

So what are some good ways to clean out a hookah? I've used soap before which apparently is a no no.

water mixed with either baking soda, lemon juice or vinegar. you could also try to mix them all together if the flavor really won`t come out.

You hit the nail on the head, this is Exactly what I do through experimentation and trial.

I personally recommend baking soda for the abrasive element in combonation with a brush for scrubbing

vinegar mixed with water sitting in a hookah base is great and I use it for "deep cleaning" the stem

my personal favorite to clean/prep a little bit before I smoke is to mix water and lemon juice, block up an end of the stem and just let it sit for about 10 minutes, pour it out, run some hot water through it and the nice lemony smell will go away leaving a clean smelling hookah.

green apple candy is not the same as green apple.

green apple candy is definitely the jolly rancher flavor. its an overwhelming flavor for me and i smoke it rarely.

If hot water and brushes wont get it out, I just put a dab of dish soap on the brush. Its been working for 4 or 5 years with no ill effects. I've only had to resort to the lemon juice a couple of times.

I have vinegar handy so I will try leaving the base filled with it. Would it hurt to leave it like that for say...2 weeks? lol, I'm going out of town today

I was under the impression Tangiers is supposed to be packed a bit tightly?

Yeah I've done a lot of experimenting. Packing it down super tight does work, but it wastes so much shisha unless you plan to smoke it for a long time(6 hr +). When packing it down very tightly I've achieved over 9 hours from the same bowl spread over 3 sessions.

If you haven't seen Snoopy's videos I highly recommend you do. Foil pattern is much more important than I thought
