Leila Vs. Hobo Hookah

Recommended Posts

One thing you might consider is where you're going to be smoking. If it's going to be in the car then you might wan't to go with the Leila. If it's just ease of tranpsort you're looking for then the Hobo might be the way to go. Plus the thing I like the about the Hobo is the different looks you can give it just depending on whatever bottle you feel like using as a base for that session.

hmm tough call. I got the leila talked out of me. So otherwise I could give you a review of it.

However, I would love to know what smoking hookah with jack daniels as a base and fluid is like... do tell.

I dont like the hobo hookah, it looks like your smoking something illegal. I reckon if I went to a party with that thing, put all the foil around the bowl and placed the whole thing inside an alcohol bottle, people might think its somethings REAL dodgey. I've been to dodgey party's, plenty of them! And I've seen people smoke stuff with home made pipes, and the hobo hookah kind of reminds me of them, and I would worry about that (maybe I'm shallow?). Whereas the Leila looks benin and even Classy. Although it doesn't look like a traditional hookah, it does look more like a hookah (if that makes sense), and I like the shape of a good hookah.

PS: I Dont want to start a drugs thread or crap like that. Its just my opinion, one I've helf about the hobo for a long time. Mods, if this post if inappropriate, please delete it and tell me I'm out of line.

The thing about the leila is that it is a sealed system so if you knock it down you are fine because the coal is in a closed chamber (given you will mess up your session still because water will get into your bowl but with a hobo hookah it is open and there isn't even an ashtray so you are asking for trouble.)

cant say much about the layla

i did purchase a hobo hookah though, and so far its been treating me extremely well, flavorfull, pretty regular smoke density (i dont normally cool my water so it prob. could be more dense)

the only problem with it is that the hose that comes with it is AWFUL, i mean, terrible, i was drawing at one point and i felt stuff come into my mouth, it was like wood or something, reaall bad,so i tried to unscrew the top off to clean it, it turns out its hotglued, so make sure you have your own screw on hose, other than that its an awesome hookah and i will recommend it to anybody, as long as they have something like a MYA Cloissonne at home

I have not used a Hobo Hookah, but if your main reason is to smoke while driving, then the Leila is your best choice. You do not need much coal, I have heard that too much heat will melt the plastic, but I have not seen any pics of the so called damaged stem. I use a half of a 40mm and no problems. I have used a full 33mm and no problems.
IMO the Leila is a better choice, much safer in the car, and it looks cool and smokes very good too.

If you want something you can run around with in your backpack with your full nalgene attached to you in the woods with a roll of QL and a lighter, then a Hobo is your best choice. It's damn durable, and can be put in the dishwasher to be cleaned. And the nalgene is pretty much indestructable (albeit poisonous).

If you are chilling in your car, then get the Leila.

The Hobo will get much better clouds because the Leila has a tiny downstem and chamber; the hobo varies wihtt he chamber, but most of the time the bottle you use is big enough.

Agree! I use my Mya Cloissone with it and it's a great matchup.

Yes I agree for the Leila 100%, it is very easy to use and very safe, the worst part is lighting QL's while driving. I always have another person do it or I pull over or I have it going before I leave the house. Hookah.gif Well worth the 100 bucks if you are going to be driving a lot.

Id say it depends on what you wanna use it for. I have a hobo hookah and i love it. It is easy to use and set up, and it smokes damn well. I will agree that the hose isnt great, but mine does screw out just fine and it definitely wasnt hot glued at all. It can be replaced tho. The fact that the base is interchangeable is the biggest plus if you want a portable hookah you can bust out at parties and stuff, and thats the main reason i got it. I know a couple of people with broken bases, and that isnt a problem with the hobo hookah. Its definitely a quality product, and it works well. i can say from experience that while it isnt quite on par with high quality full size pipes, it definitely can outsmoke some much bigger pipes that arent as well made.

This is the first ive heard of the Leila, and it looks pretty damn sweet. The fact that the coals are enclosed is a big plus, especially if you are driving. I wouldnt reccomend driving with a hobo hookah unless you have a solid way of keepin the coals safe. Im curious as to how it smokes with such a small design, but if it works well id say its the way to go if you wanna drive and smoke. Its a little more expensive, but it looks like a quality piece.

I can guarantee you that the Hobo will hit better than the Leila. The Leila comes with its own bowl...and people say you cant put more tan HALF a quick lite on it..Hobo..any bowl, as many coals..good sessions on the go.

But the Leila is more safe and PERFECT for the road and looks as slick as hell!

I would vote Leila. I drive a good 20 minutes to work and 20 back..I could easily smoke the Leila bowl in that much time.

Oh for pete's sakes guys how about getting both of them! smile.gif I have a hobo and like it alot. Agree that the hose sucks but I use my Mya Cloissoine and no problems it works fine.

We have a new baby at home and soon he will be crawling. I think the Leila is the safest bet for safety when you need it in a car or anywhere that a falling coal can do some damage.

But has anyone tried them side by side to see how they smoke? That would be a good question to ask.
