Snoopy1966
I picked up a kit today. It is a Tama Superstar and it is a new line they just made. The toms mount on the stands and not the kick drum. The hoops are black chrome die cast so the hardware is solid like Tama always has been. One month I will be on the road again!!

Snoopy1966
We play everything from classic rock 70's stuff 80's 90' and todays stuff. Pretty much a mix of everything depending on crowd and location. I have been in a Band with these guys before, so things should work out good. Snoopy1966
Yeah they are a well established band here in the area. The drummer is moving so they needed a new one and the bass player called me up and asked me if I want to jam again. He has a degree in audio and recording and has 24 digital track recording mixer and all kinds of goodies. Now we can get back to some of the originals we had going. They have really nice PA equipment and lights.I was really impressed with this Tama set. The kick sounds like a Cannon! The little toms are awesome sounding, they have quick response and a great snap to them. The snare is a 13" and it is 5" deep. The die cast hoops are teh sex. Snoopy1966
QUOTE (oolatec @ May 12 2008, 08:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>What... no Paiste? Nice set!Paiste are very good, but to pricy for me. The Sabians I got are really nice. It was a set with 14" hit hats, 20" ride and 16"crash. I bought another 18" crash and it matches perfect. The Zildjians were really nice, but i could not find a good match for what they had in stock. They are my cymbal of preference. The dark crash was really sweet and I liked the Ping ride they had. These Saibians reminded me of the Zildjians I got in the 80's. I went to a few places, and when I saw this set, I knew I wanted it. When I played it, then I really knew I wanted it. They had a nice Pearl set also. HookahGuru that is a sweet kit you have if it is the one I am thinking of.

SimplexCoda
Thats crazy snoop. My roommate is just about to finish his degree in audio engineering and has his board and pro tools and a mac and we actually are soon to have a studio at our house. So if you guys ever decide you want to be mastered by more than one person just give us a shout.

So if you guys ever decide you want to be mastered by more than one person just give us a shout.Thats sounds cool. The bass player does this as a side job also. He records many Bands and people just making audition CD's. I was really impressed with their sound this past weekend. It was a smaller place and everything was coming through great. I can't wait to hear this set miked up. It should have a thunderous boom! They use a decibel meter to control the sound so your ears are not bleeding when you leave the bar. He has high quality drum mics so that is very sweet. I hope I do not get any problems today at my apartment. I talked to the apartment manager and I told him I want to play here for a couple of weeks. I hope all goes well. The downstairs neighbors are gone now and that is my main concern because they have a 2 month old baby.

St. Goodypants
Nice set!One question though, how stable are the high toms like that? It seems like you could smack them hard enough to knock down the cymbal stands... Scary thought during a show - as a guitarist I wouldn't enjoy having a cymbal stand with a high tom attatched hit me from behind.

Scary thought during a show - as a guitarist I wouldn't enjoy having a cymbal stand with a high tom attatched hit me from behind.Yeah the stands are heavy duty, there are not going anywhere unless a drunk guitar player falls into it jk. Seriously Tama has made a great product with this set and hardware. Tama never disappoints when it comes to there stands and accessories. I am a pretty hard hitter and they have been great. I got some sound off drum pads to quiet them down so I do not piss off the neighbors. I put a note under everyones door telling them I will be playing my drums and please call me if there is any problems. The pads really quiet things down a ton. I smashed the kick drum pad in about 15 minutes. So I took off the front head and jammed it full of pillows. Better response from the kick now. I played for a bout 4 hours yesterday and I did not have any problems. QUOTE (Mr.W @ May 14 2008, 11:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>SWEET DRUM SETThanks, I am really liking it. You have so much more flexibility on setting them up how you like them. The little toms pack a great sound too, and as you have said for the price, you can not beat this kit. I played a lot of kits in this price range and it was by far the best. Some day I want a DW set. I had my first practice today with the Band I will be the new drummer for today. Felt great to play some live music and shake some more rust off. It has been a good 2 years since I really played. It is coming back fast and I am happy with my progress and the Band member all liked me too. They even liked my Hookah. I was smoking Brambleberry and the sound man could not get enough! He was standing behind me puffing away...lol
