Tried Tangiers Again In Normal Bowl

Recommended Posts

i get thin to somewhat thin and the smoke gives me a tingle in the throat. I packed around the sides with my pinky in the middle, i used 2 cube sized pieces of exoticas. Am i still not using enough tobacco? It was high enough to be against the foil, and i left the middle open w/ no tobacco.

update, i added one more cube totalling 3 cubes and i get smoke now, the flavor is there but not great and still gives off a little tingle in the throat. Edited by mattarios2

I pack it like a regular bowl. Loose and to the top with the foil touching. You may have too much coal. Tangiers takes a while to get up to temp when it's first lit because it's so wet. go back to the 2 cubes and puff steadily for atleast a few minutes before adding more coal.

What size holes are you using?

bigger than normal and a total of 20 outer ring, 18 middle ring and 10 in the middle ring and then one in the middle.

Maybe they need to be even bigger,

does the tingle in the throat happen from too small of holes
?

and btw thanks for always helping me out I appreciate it.

The tingle is from burning tobacco. too much heat. Just poke normal sized holes, I use a toothpick. You DON'T want the holes so big the coals can actually make contact with the shisha..then it burns directly instead of vaporizing.

i was under the impression you should use bigger holes w tangiers, is that only with the phunnel bowl?

i tried to use two for about 10 min and got thin smoke so i added another. got more smoke but still had the tingle.

Canon has been coming over a few times and he packs Tangiers in my Hemi bowl. Works great every time. Pack it loose over the rim. Foil then spiral small holes with a corn cob holder or filet knife. Test the pull buy sucking on the bottom of the bowl. And it should be good. 3 Coco naras seem to be a little much after it gets started. I used 3 half Golden Quicklights work a bit better. Haven't used Exotica's yet so I am not sure on those. That's just how I smoked it with Canon.

So when you pack do you sprinkle? Or just grab with 3 fingers and drop method? Also when you poke holes are they the size of the corn cob poker? Or do you make them bigger like they say you're supposed to smoke tangiers?

Thanks

I distinctly remember in past threads Eric himself said he pokes about 150 holes with a fork so pretty good size. Remember that the more holes the less heat gets down into the shisha so the more heat sensitive a shisha is, the more holes you should have. I change my hole patter depending on the shisha. Fantasia takes fewer, Tangiers takes a whole lot more than a regular Fusion or Starbuzz bowl. I've never had a bad bowl of Tangiers but my first sample came from the man himself with clear instructions.

Yeah i smoke fantasia here and there, and that stuff is the most noob friendly tobacco out there, whether its a ton of holes, a few holes, tons of coal, a little coal, no matter what the shit smokes well.

Ok so Tangiers ... tons and tons of holes, should I sprinkle or do the 3 finger grab method?
Thanks Edited by mattarios2

Either of those should work, you just have to get the amount right.
