ilikemyusername
okay, so i bought a bag of romman lemonwood coals and absolutely hated them, to me they made the shisha taste funny, and gave a distinct kick in my lungs. i normally use 3k, but i just got a box of exoticas (so far i'm satisfied, but by no means a "fanboy") a buddy of mine had some of the AF coals and i had the same problem with them, this ever happen to anyone else? do lemonwood coals suck or is it just me? theotherone31415
i used romman lemonwood a few times. i had one of the best sessions ever with em once, but normally they were just alright. i think people shit on em a lot but they're not bad. they just have to be REALLY lit
ilikemyusername
maybe it's just me, but i could DEFINITLEY taste the coal.as for being lit, yeah. They don't get any more lit.
chromecarz00
They are ok if fully lit but ONLY if its fully lit, as in its on fire when you blow on it.I tried a half lit, i was suffering for a week.
stryet
I've had problems with Romman, but the AF ones were much better. They're tricky, but I do believe they bring out the flavor better than any other coal.

I've had mostly good experiences with Romman Lemon Wood, but I don't get it often because it usually isn't in stock around here. antouwan
i've used AF and Nakhla naturals, they're alright, the AF is better than the Nakhla in my opinion though...i prefer naturals MUCH more than 3k's or any other instant coal. after using naturals for a while, i can taste the chemical/some other alteration that the instant lights give off even when they fully ash over. i believe you'll find that people who use the naturals for a decent amount of time can't go back to qls
n0s
I'm a little afraid of trying the lemonwood coals, I've had amazing results with both 3k/Goldens and Exoticas, so why bother messing with new coals, especially flavored ones.

It's the type of wood used (actually from a type of evergreen.) You can get olive wood and oak, as well... Edited May 19, 2008 by Ralleac
mushrat
The problem can be the side that is down on the foil will often smother and go out with natural bulk charcoals. So when you flip or move the coal, or it burns to the unlit part from above, it is essentially relighting the dead part, which is why in the middle of a smoke you can suddenly get that freshly lit charcoal taste.
