SimplexCoda
Ok so i have tried exoticas and they were ok, until i tried coconaras. I love the cocos because they dont have any flavor to me. BUt, it seems that i have to flip them like a billion times more than any other coal i have ever used. I know that this is because of the lack of oxygen where the coal touches the foil, but is there a high quality natural coal that doesnt taste and doesnt have be fliped over ever 2 seconds? antouwan
try bigger holes whenever you use the coco naras. when you say 'natural' do you mean legit natural, or formed/shaped coals made from natural materials?
SimplexCoda
the holes im using are huge cause its for tangiers, but im talkin about both fingers and legit naturals.
antouwan
well codename recommended me to use mesquite wood, i was sceptical at first because i thought that instead of smoking grape i would be smoking bbq grape, but the coals don't add any flavor, and stay lit for a while. the ash sticks to them, and you have to ash them quite a bit but they're one of the best legit naturals that i've used. and as for compressed naturals - some would say my opinion is biased - but coco naras ftw. i've had the same experience with the coals when smoking tagy though...it might just be because the tobacco is so close to the foil with a tangy setup

MechAnt
With Coconaras I don't even flip them and its perfectly fine. With Canary Golden Japs, I put them on and dont touch them at all.
mushrat
Ya, i havent tried the cocnara so i cant compare, but the belgian 40mm natural disks are what I'm using at the bar, so you know I think highly of them.
Stuie
With Coco's I think you might want to light them longer. I heat mine 5 mins one side, 5 the other and I put them on a screen and never touch them, with Tangiers, Potion, Romman, whatever.
melanko
I only need to flip and rotate CoCo Nara's once or twice during my sessions. They take at least 10-12 minutes to fully light over full heat.
SimplexCoda
Ya they dont light any more trust me. I will leave them on for up to 20 minutes before using them. And when i put them on, if they arent sittin under a fan even the top side wont burn. I love the way they dont taste like anything, but dont like the way they dont stay lit correctly. Maybe next time i will order the belgin disks and come canary goldens.

Jeff_T
I love exoticas, have never received a bad batch and they never leave any residual taste for me. Because you've tried these and are not a fan the others I'd recommend would be the Canary coals, real Japanses not Chinese knockoffs. Also, I had a good experience with these natural coconut coals from hookahcompany. The Belgian looks like something worth trying but seem a bit expensive. Just order a few boxes of different stuff, if possible, find what you like and trade/sell the rest.
