Need A Price Estimate

So, the other day, we were all getting ready to go play soccer, and we were all parked at my friends house. i was speeding, fucking around, behind my friends Jeep Wrangler X or whatever the fuck its called, and i pretended to go hit my friend on foot, but then slammed on the brakes at the last second, and pulled left. however, my friend in the jeep in front of me had stopped to tal to my friend on foot (unbeknownst to me), and i cut left into his car at about 7 miles an hour. theres no damage to my car, but his back bumper is plastic. i hit part of his bumper, and it popped in, and then out again. theres no real physical damage, but a small portion didnt really pop out, and the rest of the bumper has those weird plastic stretch marks. hes kinda pissed, cuz his car is literally 2 weeks old, so i told him id pay for it all. is there any way to get rid of the unsightly stretch marks without replacing the bumper? if hes really pissed off, and wants to get a new bumper, how much would a whole new bumper cost? its only plastic, but i was thinking it was in the hundreds. its the Jeep Wrangler X or the Jeep Unlimited X whatever the fuck its called.

so bottom line, how much does a plastic bumper cost?

thanks, brahs.

I'll poke around online, you should prolly be able to install it yourself in less then 30 minutes. I'll see if I can find a diagram for you. I know I can take both bumpers off my civic in less then 10 minutes after doing it once or twice. So i assume the wrangler shouldn't be that difficult either.

I couldn't find a realiable set of directions, but what it basically boils down to is that there are what looks like 6 bolts holding the bumper on from behind. 2 on each end, and 2 in the middle, if you remove those the bumper should just slide off and then the new one slides in with it being rebolted. All ya need is a socket set and wrench.

I believe the bumpers are the same across all 07-08 models, so you shouldn't have any issues. Everywhere I checked directed me to the same part regardless of it being 2 door, 4 door, unlimited, etc....

No prob.
And you dont have to tell him. Lol I do my own work on my car, Ive custom made a body kit, painted, installed, installed my own cai, etc etc.

Body work can cost a small fortune, especially on a newer car. Some of the new bumpers can be a real PITA to remove; I've had to pull the radiator just to get to the mounting screws before.

Anything less than $200 for an unpainted bumper is a steal...my junk yard replacement was about $750 total after it was painted to match.

I would buy an FSM or download one and see what is involved in removing it. Its most likely a few screws for the turn signals/marker lights, and a handfull of screws holding the bumper on. There may be some other brackets and such, but they usually aren't a big deal.
