OC4111
I just saw Rendition over the weekend and part of it takes place in Egypt. There are a couple of scenes in hookah bars.

There are a couple of scenes in hookah bars.If hookah scenes in movies are what you are looking for, you should try Indian movies, especially historical movies about North India in the 19th century, there's often plenty of hookah action to be found. <----------- My profile pic over there is from Satyajit Ray's Shatranj ke khiladi (The Chess Players) - there is hookah-smoking in most scenes, including (as you can see) by female characters. The titular "chess players" are a pair of guys who spend most of their time hunched over a chess board sucking on a two-hose hookah.ETA: pic Edited May 20, 2008 by filmigeek

Never met a non-indian (non brown in general) person who liked indian stuff, much less a chick...Don't want to drag this too far off-topic but the question "what are you?" always makes me laugh. I'm non-brown but Hindi films found me by accident and I got hooked on them. I guess in some way that led me here too, because it was from Indian films that I first started noticing how cool hookahs were, and then admiring them when I saw them around in real life, which is what caused my husband to get me a hookah for my birthday, which is why I am here (impatiently waiting for my first order of coals and shisha to arrive so I can get started grrrrrrr!). But - over the years I have met lots of non-brown folks who love Hindi movies and other Indian movies. There is a small but devoted number of us out there! I'd reccomend his Apu-trilogy too, if you havn't seen it yet.Anyways, we should make a thread for movie/song/book/game hookah references (or images/clips). Would be cool. I already know about the scene in Firefly, several scenes in Carnivale, Alice in Wonderland (of course), The Office (USA), WoW, CoD 4 etc etc. Edited May 20, 2008 by Balthazar

So, is it true that in Bolliwood films, when a couple is dancing around a tree, that is technically a sex scene, that dancing around a tree is supposed to symbolize sex since in their culture you cannot put that in movies?on another note...I was watching Freddy vs Jason last night and spotted a hookah towards the end, when Freddy takes over the NHThead's body
