Winter
Hey everyone. First, I would like to introduce myself. My name's Will and I've been smoking hookah for well over a year now and have purchased a few hookahs since then.My question is, how well do hookahs with multiple hose smoke? I have never had the chance to smoke one, but I have heard that the smoke is not as thick and that no two people can smoke at the exact same time? Are these statements true? MechAnt
Multiple hoses don't necessarily smoke worse, but its more like there are more places that allow for error. When people take hits at the same time, yes, there is a diminished smoke quality. However, the company MYA makes hookahs with a common chamber that allows for easy simultaneous hits with good smoke. In the end, multi-hoses, in my opinion, are not worth it because it takes away a social element of hookah which is passing the hose and just chatting instead of hitting the hookah like your mom when rent's due. Bushbr
Mech, I respectfully disagree.I feel Multi hose hookahs are perfectly fine. For non-Mya hookahs, it is not too large of a deal to have one person hit at a time. multiple hoses do not diminish from the social aspect, I believe they highten then social aspect. If a person is smoking a single hose, although yes he will always be willing to share, it gives off a very subtle mindset that it is not supposed to be shared. With a Multi-hose hookah, there is obvious and blatant intent for sharing, and to be social. people who do not know hookahs that well will hesitate to ask to join in if there is only 1 hose. if there are 2 or more, the person knows that more than one person can enjoy this, and will be more inclined to join in, sparking conversation, and friendship.but those are just my 2 cents

zachslusser
I would say i can agree with mech, but i have never thought of the idea that Bush Brings up which is a very good point. i have 1 2 hose hookah and i think it smokes just fine, they are good for party situations when you are going to be smoke with with more than 4 people 1 hose to 4 people is a good number i feel
chromecarz00
I agree with all that has been previously stated. However, I only smoke with those who want to smoke, Therefore I have multiple hookahs going if anyone else wants to smoke. Usually 1 hookah to 2 people is my ratio. Its a pain because no one really knows how to manage the heat, but its worth it. Its fun.
Stuie
I love multi hoses I have a Pharaoh 3 hose and a couple mya's. I can't tell a difference between smoking a single hose and multi hose both smoke great to me. It's all preference. I have always went for the multi hose option because I rarely smoke alone, It's much easier to have several hoses than pass the hose and twist the hookah. Everyone kinda sinks into my couches so it's a pain. That's why I do what I do. That in $150 in Charcoal damage on my old apartment carpet... i don't want to risk it. Bushbr
people are talking about 1 hose for 4 people? that seems very odd to me. I usually smoke with only 1 maybe 2 other people, and my two hose is perfect. hose per person....what could be better?then if there is a third, either the owner of the hookah (myself) or the owner of the house (usually not me) gets a hose of their own they dont have to pass. Winter
Thanks for the input guys. I'm planning on buying another hookah in the near future and it is most probably a multi-hose. I know that Mya is a brand that many people like, so I will look into that. Anyone have any preference to which multi-hose Mya hookah they like more than any others? Voski
I have a 4 hose MYA Staff hookah (www.hookah-shisha.com) it smokes great. 4 people can smoke at the same time but they can't suck to hard or it becomes a contest as to who can suck the most to get the smoke. Two or three people can smoke freely though.
wayl0n
Multiple hoses doesn't make your hookah's smoke any better or worse, its just for the purpose of serving more than one person at a time. However having more than one hose means that there is more than one hole leading to air. This shows that multiple hoses just adds more variables of ways that your hookah can have problems. liquidglass
I personally enjoy my 4 hoser. It's not my main hookah (obviously) but It's great when I have a few friends over. I've got a Genie style base on it so it's got tons of room for smoke and everyone can pull at the same time. Of course I have my personal hookah that I'll share with others to let them try the awesomeness that is my hookah. But the rule is I always have a hose no matter what unless I say it's ok. And I can control all the hoses at whim, so if I think someone is getting left out or someone is hogging i'll grab a hose and make sure they get it. I love my 4 hoser as far as the social aspect goes, everyone gets to comment on the flavor and there's no contest over 2 single hose hookahs or 4 separate hookahs. Plus coal/shisha management is MUCH easier when you're doing two bowls rather than 3 or 4. I've pulled out 5 hookahs for friends before lol trust me on this one. Rani
I buy only single hose hookahs because I like the tradition of them - multi-hose are a modern/western invention. Not that they're bad. But having held many a "hookah party" in my place, I send people in to choose their shisha and pipe and give everyone their own. It's very, very social that way and newbies learn to load a bowl and manage the heat on their very own (temporaily) hookah. Several people have gone out and bought their own pipes after the experience. So not only am I keep with the tradition of one pipe per person, but getting newbies involved in the whole hookah "movement" as well.'Rani
