Showing And Explaining Hookah To Parents

Recommended Posts

In my other topic, I talked about smoking in my room, and wanting to explain it to my parents and I did today. Yesterday some friends wanted to smoke, so I stopped home and got it, and my parents asked what I was doing, and told them I was getting my hookah, my mom asked what a hookah was, and my dad just said they were going to "smoke some shit"

Well, today I figured why not explain it to them, so I brought it downstairs and showed it to my mom, and she was understanding about it. I told her how it is different than cigs, and theres not 4000+ unamed chemicals. She was a little unsure about it being tobbacco, but she's understanding enough to let me smoke it outside. Dad, havent told it too exactly, but if moms cool, he'll pretty much have to be.

So if you are unsure about telling your parents, just do it! Be easy going about it and be open to them, and explain it thouroughly and they should be understanding

I'm glad your parents were accepting. Mine were too. 7 years ago when I was still living at home my friends bought me a small Hookah Bros aka MZ hookah for Christmas. My parents knew I frequented the hookah lounges so they were on board with me saving money from not going to King Tut's Cafe and smoking at home. I turned my room into a hookah lounge while I was living there. Now I live with my wife and she organizes my hookah and shisha collection. She's a great woman. happy.gif Edited by MrMoodz

My parents are pretty cool with my hookah. In fact Ive never had a problem. One day my brother and I came home with one and set it up outside while everyone else was sitting around the fire pit and when we started smoking it everyone kinda turned around and was skepticle. But my brother wouldnt do that type of stuff. So my parents made there way over and asked questions and we explained. Now my mom smokes with us whenever and my dad lets us smoke in the house. When I got my new hookah and Nammor hose I was smoking SB Lemon Mint and he came home from work and was like "WTF is this shit!?!?" I didnt notice it smelled like shit.

i can't tell my parents.

I have a heart condition, and am the youngest of four. They would never understand me smoking. I'll let them know a few years after i move out.

and can we not have with the preaching on smoking and heart conditions. I've heard it all, dont care.

I parents knew I went to hookah bars. When I came home for the summer my hookah obviously came with me. They know I have it and haven't ever said anything about it. Out of respect I avoid smoking it around them or my little sister.

I just started smoking hookah, and my parents were not very fond of it,but once they realize you are old enough to make your own decisions it makes it a lot easier. I also have younger sibling, and they dont mind me smoking as long as it is not around them. Many parent are ignorant to the fact that you use tobacco in hooka and not that other stuff. A simple deminstration is all my parents needed to let me smoke.

When I told my dad he thought I was smoking NHT out of it. Because thats what they used it for in Iran and he grew up there. He took two hits and said he doesn't feel anything. Then he got up and left.

Yeah I'm with you too. I explained one day to my parents about hookah but I was also 20 so they trust my judgement even though neither of them like smoking.

But even though my mom grew up a preacher's kid and doesn't like drinking or smoking she just wants me to be safe and responsible.

But out of respect I keep the hookah away from them, smoking wise at least. They've seen it tons of times but I never smoke it around them or drink around them for that matter.

it was easy for me, i moved out of my parents house a few days after i turned 18, moved into a kickass apartment and my neighbor introduced me to hookah.

shortly after that i bought a nice 1 hose egyptian with frosted base that had TUT ,Nefertiti and the piramids at Giza on it.
I was sitting on the back porch and my mom was knocking on the front door. she says " hey hows it goin' and i says "fine, i'm just smokin my hookah.
she was cool with it

I come from a family of smokers on my dads side, and a little on my moms side.
After I got my hookah, my second session was with my parents, in our living room.

Parents are people too, try to explain it to them. They might eventually understand.

My mother buys me shisha. My father keeps bicthing about me smoking too much but still buys me shisha and helps me with my home-made ones.
I brought my first hookah home at quite young age and told them straight away. People here are quite educated about Narguileh cz we used to have a lot of Turks (before the invaded our country and got half of it). SInce then she buys me shisha and tried half of the flavours i had.
i have a rule. If you tell them, you have no reason to fear. What are they gonna do? Beat you up? you aint 10.

Cheers
