Hole Size For Tangiers

Recommended Posts

I think they need to be bigger and more. I had a good session tonight but it wasn't great, but good. I would get the tingle here and there, but it was rare. Flavor was there and I got good smoke. I used 3 cube sized exoticas.

I did the packing with a small fork and used the palm push down method w/ my hand and the foil.

I think my only prob is my holes so here it is, lemme know what you think.

Are you using a phunnel bowl?

I've heard good things about doing a ring of medium size holes on the outside then either one or two more rings towards the center. And then one center hole so you don't reduce the draw.

A LOT bigger and dont put holes over the hole of the phunnel

So a ring on the outside one or 2 rings in the middle but not over the phunnel hole? I thought if there was no holes over the phunnel hole the foil would stick to the hole and make you not get any suction.

So from the pics it looks like theere are less holes but they are alot bigger. I dont have a prob packing it so I will continue to do the loose method and let it rise above the bowl then pack it down with the foil, but I think my holes are hurting my smoking performance a bit. I am going to try to do bigger holes and less of them like in those pics and see how it goes.

Do you do alot of big holes? or like what the pics show from Snoopy?

holes over the phunnel hole have no impact on the smoke what so ever.

ive poked holes just like you and dont have problems. ive used knife slit holes forever and that worked fine too. more wont hurt i suppose but i dont see a drastic improvement.

The holes in that pic look kind of like mine, my understanding from the boards is the bigger the better for tangiers. So take a shot tonight for me so I can try to follow a couple pics.

Thanks man

I think it's always a good idea to not poke holes over the funnel. Then, if the smoke is too heavy, you have the option of adding holes in the center mid-smoke to lighten it up a bit. I've saved a few smokes this way...
