yashman19
Well, from the way you are explaining your bowl is turning out, I would say its a clay bowl, not a ceramic. I have both, and the clay bowl feels sort of like smooth brick, while a ceramic bowl is coated with a glaze, and feels like shiny glass. Ceramic bowls are easier to clean, and don't stain, but clay bowls absorb the juices from the ma'assel and end up staying that way most of the time. It won't hurt anything, but if you want to keep it as clean as possible, just wash your bowl after every use. To clean it, just use a dish sponge with dish soap and scrub, its not difficult. As for cleaning a hookahs stem, warm soapy water? Its not a big deal. The main thing that will keep your hookah solid is just cleaning after every use or after every couple of uses. Hookahs tend to get gunky when people NEVER clean them out. Then old drippy residue drip down the stem and coat it. Just keep it clean and you shouldn't have any taste problems. Ratman12304
I'm sorry to tag on to someone else's post, but I've been wondering, is there a big difference in ceramic and clay bowls? Does one smoke better than the other? Is there any reason you guys would recomend me not getting a ceramic bowl?
iheartvarg1
from my experience, ceramic bowls smoke a bit heavier. i think its because they can lock in a little more heat. dont knwo if this si true... it probably isnt, but thats just been my observation. theres hardly any difference though. i just prefer ceramic because theyre easier to clean
yashman19
Ceramic tend to be a bit stronger, more resiliant to cracks because they are coated with a glaze. Now if you drop any bowl, doesn't matter if its clay or ceramic, its gunna break, but if you accidentally bump a ceramic bowl against a tabble or something, it will normally hold up better than a clay bowl. I can't see a difference in smoking experience though between the two.
