lol dont u people have kitchens with stoves in?

thats the best way, leave the coil burners with walmart

actually believe it or not my apartment comes with a stove! *sarcasm*

But:
A) I prefer to smoke outside of my apartment, so rather than getting up to get coals each time my hookah needs a new one (b/c they go out if you just keep them sitting beside you) and having no way to keep them heated constantly is a bother.

cool.gif I'd much rather have a $9 one eye coil stove looking messy, than where I cook my food and having to clean up all the ashes on my real stove.

Some people.... rolleyes.gif Edited by liquidglass

if you wanted to get some pretty legit naturals to go with your stove, it's a nice 2-fer

I sort of understand, but I'd rather buy a stove at walgreens (if you have one locally) than a) pay more online and b ) have it increase the shipping on the coconaras,

dude, those coals are my absolute favorite EVER. no headaches no matter how long you smoke, no flavor, freakin' great!!

i just light them on my electric stove for about 5 or 6 minutes. they don't eve have to be lit all the way, and they'll still have no flavor.

freakin' great.

If you care about portability, you can get a cheap little hand-held torch lighter for around 10 bucks. They get the job done and you can use it outside if you don't like the smell inside your home. I prefer though, to light them on the stovetop, on the burner. I just find it a bit easier because you don't have to hold the coals in your tongs the whole time and you can walk away and punch holes in your foil or whatever else you need to do regarding setup. You can also can hotplates, just single burners, like a stovetop one, but single and more portable, which you can hook up to a barbeque propane tank, those work nice too, somewhat portable and you don't need to hold the coals. Just gotta replace the tanks.

i also made the decision to move to naturals, so i purchased some and got a coil burner. I have a question: the coals are about an inch and a half in length, using a 15-20g size bowl, what amount of coal would be ideal?

i attached a picture of the coal on top of the burner, take a look. the package has the name al-qaser on it (these any good?)

for a bowl that size, i use two pieces, each being about as long as my thumb.
a little thicker than the thicket part of my thumb.

for larger pieces of coal, i split them (like chopping wood) and lay the flat part down on the foil. this makes it hard for the coals to roll off.

How long do it take to light with a torch? ex the coco nara's?

Well, i do not light them to where they stay red hot all over. but at some time they are very red/orange and when i take the torch off of them (2 of them and i light them together at the same time on top of my hotplate which will not light them at all!) they have a little flame on them for a bit. i get them nice and glowing then flip them and do it again. flip them a few more times keeping the torch on them a little less each time. then place them on the bowl!

I dont know an actual time. It takes about as much time to load battlefield 2 and watch the movie at the begining and select a server from favorites. so i would guess 3-5 mins.

Thanks Dom. I was also curious of the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning
when lighting the naturals. Can I light it indoors or is it just as dangerous as QLs?

You should be perfectly alright lighting them inside, I've never had an issue and I've been doing it for 3 years now. The only thing you'll have to deal with is it smelling like coals lighting up for a few minutes, but it goes right away especially if your smoking some sweet smellin shisha.

i light them inside on my stove with the fan vent above the stove turned on to suck out the smoke. sometimes, i forget, and it's no big deal. don't worry about carbon monoxide poisoning. i've never gotten the symptoms of CO poisoning while using these type of coals.

glad i could hlep. smile.gif
