philly28blunt
hey. i live in toronto canada and smoke hookah a few times a week with a few friends. currently im using a stargate hookah, which is quite nice may i add. recently i took a trip down to washinton with my school and found this hookah store in a mall. the prices of the tobacco were so cheap ($12 for 250grams) that i couldnt resist on buying a few boxes. first time i tried this tobacco it was really really really moist and i was confused since thats not what i was used to. i ended up microwaving it and putting less holes (onyl wehre the coal is placed because if i place hoels everywhere and place a coal on there is practically no smoke even after 5 mins). the taste of the tobacco isnt that good but there is alot of smoke. i am considering returning to paying $45 canadian for a box of 250grams but wudnt like to (the tobacco was alot better, much better tastE) i was wondering if anyone knew of any places to order GOOD tobacco online that is located in canada since when u usually order from US they slap on a nice tax at the border. if not then some places in US would be nice, thanks! Brad
What brand do you normally smoke and what brand was the wet stuff you bought? Just to get an idea of what you're looking for.
yashman19
And good luck ordering tobacco online from a Canadian retailer...pretty certain they don't exist, or else they are doing a pretty crappy job of advertising And I have absolutely no idea why you microwaved your ma'assel....most brands of ma'assel ARE moist, and thats what the companies are trying to accomplish, getting you nice fresh moist ma'assel...What brand did you buy in Washington, and what brand do you normally get in Canada that is crispy? Just FYI, I have a bunch of Al Waha and Al Amir, and both brands come very moist, and the Al Fahker that I have been getting is almost wet....there are puddles of juice at the bottom of the tub, so this is the norm when you buy from the States. Did you even try smoking it when it was moist? Or did you take one look at it, and pop it in the microwave? Give it a try, you might be pleasantly surprised
ravi
yeah can you explailn why you microwaved the shisha??? it should be good when its nice and moist. cant seem to find and canada online stores......what kind did u buy in washington? if you were supprised with those "low prices" you can buy 250g boxes for less, but it depends what kind u had... philly28blunt
haha guys common im not completely retarded. i tried smoking it when it was really moist and it just wouldnt burn, like i got sh*tworth for smoke. to say i remember the company would be a blatant lie and i threw out the box.. i just have the brownish round containers left...if thats a hint? the stuff i used b4 i dun remember either cuz i havent smoked that in a good month or so...um it might matter that im using a new type of coal...its uhh these rectangular japanese coals that apparantly make less of a mess and burn hotter...that might affect it... i guess i gotta keep experimenting if everyone is getting alot of smoke with the really moist stuff..more coals maybe...i still think there shud be more hoels like i used to do it but it jus like made it even worse for smoke...grr
yashman19
Well I guess what you're saying makes sense. If the ma'assel really is TOO moist, then it would be hard to get a good smoke. But I wouldn't microwave it Is there a lot of goopy juice at the bottom of the tub? Try getting rid of some of it, letting the ma'assel sort of dry up a little bit. Too bad you don't remember what brand it was. Oh well.
dizzing
when i get shisha that's ridiculously moist (or any shisha for that matter) i liket o put it in those ziploc or gladware containers and stir it up, and shake it up i also like to shake it up periodically, this distributes the syrup throughout and keeps the pieces broken up for easy packing. as for those japanese coals, i'd say just keep experimenting until you find a method that works for you. oops, i said shisha instead of ma'assel.. i think it's time for us to add "shisha" to the hookah dictionary as another word (perhaps a slang word) for ma'assel , at least in american english. Soup
One of the best things to do is make friends with an American and have it mailed to you. If you do this just hope it doesn't get caught at the border...$.18/g duties on tobacco. I am getting an order in and if it gets caught I'll get slapped with over $300 (CAD) of charges. $100 of tobacco, shipping costs...if it gets caught the total cost could be more than $450! dizzing
hm, just something interesting i noticed today. the ma'assel i buy here (in west virginia) does not have our state tobacco tax stamp on it. i wonder how it gets imported here without that, perhaps it is treated as something other than tobacco..? i know this doesn't really help , but if it's treated as something else here, maybe there's a way to get it that way in canada. Sonthert
USA! USA!My tobacco is flat packed and slips easily into envelopes which are practically never searched. If more manufacturers did this, it wouldn't be too hard.

gunsboy
I am from Halifax Nova Scotia... EAST COAST BABY .... Anyways, I have made until now 4 orders of tobacco, only got dinged once with customs. I have paid a total of $6.35 Canadian on a $140 order, but the company that sent it recorded the cost as $25 and called mossales or something like that instead of tobacco. I bought Al-Fakher (Apple, Double Apple, Golden Apple Bahr./AlEsk., Golden Grapes, Qemma Grapes, Qemma Strawberry, Qemma Rose), Al-Amir (Cola, Cherry, Lemon). Each order is almost 1.5-3 Kg of tobacco. The sites are as follows: www.hookah-tobacco.net I liked those guys alot. Ground service from the Pacific to the atlantic. Very informative in their tracking. Looks like they ship right after they get the order. No customs was paid here. (11-14 days from CA to NS) www.SouthSmoke.com This is an ok one. My first order passed through no problem but the second I got dinged with customs but was not much. My tracking number never worked until the package actually got to me. Nice site good products (14-15 days from FL to NS). www.smoking-hookah.com Those guys are not that great. I ordered something fro a company that I thought was based in NJ, and guess where my products come from "Tel Aviv- Israel". They took so long and very slow and almost no response to my e-mails. In the end I got my stuff but I almost forgot what ordered. I thought that this was a scam for a while (21 days from Israel to Canada ). I hope this is helpful. If anyone has ore info please share it with us .. I love a shisha with a Tim Hourtons, eh ...
Sonthert
Tax stamps vary from state to state. In California, they are only for cigarettes. West Virginia is probably similar. Pipe tobacco, or related material is sold by weight, so there is not one "official" package. Cigarettes are taxed by count and 20 cigarettes constitutes a package. Many states have laws prohibiting sale of "short" packages or individual sales of cigarettes or "count" small cigars.

gunsboy
The company I order from is now RED-FLAGGED by Canadian customs . The canadian customs confiscated all the tobacco for a friend of mine. I think it was his fault, he ordered like $300-400 worth of tobacco. No owonder they suspected that it is not for personal use. I am almost at the last few bowls of my tobacco. S.O.S. Who wants to be my friend and send me some gifts????
