Dr. Atkins
I believe Lucid is actually real absinthe. I've tried a few kinds abroad, and Lucid here, and it's certainly got the same effect. That said, it might be worthwhile to make a tincture of wormwood or mugwort or some other closely related artemesia. Pubmed has many articles with GC analysis of the constituents, and there are several species in the same family that have similar makeups, not to mention grow like weeds. According to a few sources te level of the chemical is about what it was with the historic forumulas. So it may very well be true Green Fairy. Lucid is 124 proof mind you so you are still going to get your ass handed to you if you drink too much but hey...I think I'll have to try this stuff...QUOTE The revival of absinthe started in the 1990s when it was discovered that the UK never really banned absinthe, and so some importers began selling absinthe which they brought in from the Czech Republic. Since then, various changes in the legal availability of absinthe have occurred; perhaps most notably is the formation of the European Union, which has brought about a homogenization of the various laws which were on the books of the various individual countries of this new-found union. The results of this were that absinthe, with a level of thujone below 10mg/liter was considered as safe for sale. While to the best of my knowledge, this has not yet become an officially sanctioned part of US law, it has apparently become a benchmark which is used to determine if a product is safe to bring to market. Part of this is passed off as seeing up to 10mg/liter as being an acceptable “margin of error” in the detection process.

F1 is the race of the gods. but do you watch nascar when drunk ? bcuz thats the only way it makes sense to me lol Just differebt styles is all...Doesn't F-1 ever do ovals or is that just Indy and the like?Besides, there is nothing more funny to watch than a bunch of nascar drivers on a road corse where they actualyl have to turn RIGHT. Most of those guys can't keep the car on the road tosave their lives... i think bernie eccelstone would rather be raped by a silverback gorilla than have his racing end up on an oval "track". nascar drivers actually can turn right ???? Dr. Atkins
The chemical in question is thujone, a moderate GABA agonist. It seems that there's no significant differences between pre-ban, turn of the century absinthe and the stuff being made then, neither in terms of thujone content or other constituents. Many postulate that thujone is the cause of the legendary effects of absinthe, which would make some sense--alcohol is also a GABA agonist, so couple a strong, 125 proof liqueur with another strong sedative/relaxant and you get the absinthe effect. They also attribute its negative effects--hallucinations, general craziness, etc-- to thujone, which have since been pretty squarely refuted. girlgeek
Mmm. . .Lucid with orange juice instead of water. I'm fine drinking 2 of those, but after the third they start going down waaay too fast. Kubler is also stateside, I'm pretty sure that's a lower proof.
