My suggestions for the 9800 series is based off future probablity of SLI. If you don't want to wait for the next series then 9800 will be the best bet as you could always SLI them.

Go here for a good look at them. SLI-8800GT and the 9800GTS perform very similarly. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6187891/i...;om_clk=topslot

QUOTE (Victim026 @ May 25 2008, 12:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm a little weary of the 780i series boards, everyone that I've read reviews about seems to have a major problem although my friends are pushing me hard to get it. I'll check out the 790I though, even though it's prolly more then I need. Alot's actually changed with what I'm planning to do with this thing after having a few convo's with some of my Lan Buddies. I'll post a revised setup in a little bit when i get home.

I've got the 780i here and have no problems at all... smile.gif

As far as your CPU... don't get OEM... warranty is crap. Get Retail. It's worth the extra $$$/peace of mind.

Future SLI capability? The new cards come out within a couple of months.

Don't link to gamespot for hardware reviews. They're usually shit (not to mention that they reuse URLs so you can't link to them and get the same article half the time) look around on tomshardware for a while.

Okay lemme ask again when I'm not drunk, do you want to overclock your system. It would require screwing with the bios, possibly frying your CPU and motherboard, and several hours spent testing to see what settings are stable. BUT it would make your system perform better for a lower price. Edited by St. Goodypants

I've never overclocked a PC in my life and don't know that I feel paticularly ok with the fact I have no experience. Overclockin GPU's I can do, but CPU's i'm compleltly in the dark and really wouldn't know where to begin. So I should probably avoid that for the time being.

Are they the 512mb version or 320/640mb?

The 512mb GTS or GT will perform better than either the 320mb or 640mb version of the gts, but the 640GTS is still a nice card.

If they're 320mb cards you got screwed:

Anyway, if you don't want to oc your system then yeah get that q6600. Edited by St. Goodypants
