Exile
Haha, yeah, they'd rather recruit a psycho with no ink than a few good men with. I'm living proof. Sad to see our military with such low morale tho. Edited May 24, 2008 by Exile

I was in NYC the other night and met some Marines outside a pub and started to talk to them. I don't remember how we got onto the topic of tattoos, but they showed me theirs and it was all either on their shoulders or their backs, no where else. bjelder
Hey Nick-- just a word to the wise. Be VERY cautious with tattoos in visible places. Being in the aviation industry, who knows what you're going to do after you fly helos for the police. My boss at my current job used to fly for the state police and now he's doing something totally different.Just because your current employer is ok with tattoos doesn't mean your next one will be. Say you decide to start doing charter work in helicopters or something similar. Show up for an interview, extend your arm for the hand shake and BAM they see a tattoo. Not gonna look too good.I personally think it looks badass, but try to consider the future as well.

So, neck, face, hands. The policy is different in every branch, the marines and the air force have the strictest standards. I know some guys who got into the navy with a bunch of tattoos, so they don't always follow their own policy. Good to see our government is consistent in following its own policy. I had a friend who started doing that and ended up as Julio Iglesia's private pilot, he had a BLAST! lol He used to send postcards to the bar I worked at from each place he visited. He had a stamp made up for the back of them, so he didn't have to write anything...lol. One of the few people I've met who truly loved his job! stuyvo
I would personaly avoid the wrists for a tattoo if you don't have many/other tattoos; I wear a full suit every day at work and haven't gone past my elbow (have a custom web on my left elbow) it definately can hurt you down the track even if you are able to cover it.and im the first person to say: WOOO TATTOOS!; after being inked alot of people will treat you differently in ways you would not expect.each unto their own though, iv got about 30hours of tattooing done so far and have another session booked in a few weeks
