mattarios2
we left last night at midnight so we made good time, was supposed to take 12 hours and it tooks us 10. Anyways we have a balcony in the hotel room and we wanted to smoke on the balcony looking at the water and the beach. The concierge told us that it is a $250 fine for smoking anywhere on the hotel resort. So, In my house and everywhere else i've smoked the hookah has never set off a fire alarm. I am not concerned about the smell b/c hookah smells like incense as far as im concerned and by morning it won't smell like anything. We wanted to smoke on the balcony but if a security guard sees us we are done. So we figured we'd smoke in the room with the sliding door open and leila near the sliding door. The smoke detector is about 30 feet away, any chance the hotel could use higher sensor ones or something along those lines? What do you guys think? Thanks

Also people smoke right in front of the hotel and smoke works its way into the lounge area, but I want to sit on my balcony, that is completely outside and smoke and enjoy the view and they say no. I just think sometimes rules make no sense and are out of wack.

mattarios2
I guess my question is, will it set off the alarm? Like is there such thing as a detector that is more fussy, that may detect hookah smoke? We will be about 30 feet away and i'd say 90% of the smoke will go right out the sliding door. liquidglass
Well while i don't always recommend breaking rules. Most fire/smoke detectors only detect "hot smoke" or excessive amounts of said smoke. So if there isn't a combo of heat and smoke coming at it, you should be ok. Or you could always duct tape the openings on said fire/smoke alarm. But again i don't advocate it

Snoopy1966
I just got back from Texas and we stayed at a very nice Inn and Suite and I smoked in my room and we did in Canon and Kat's room. No problem with alarms, but it does help to have the window open. Makes the rooms smell good!! We started Coconaras coals inside too.
