Mya Colossus

Recommended Posts

I just ordered a Mya Colossus and everything came great except for the fact that the ashtray wobbles on the top. I've never had a hookah or seen a hookah that has the ashtray wobble, and I was wondering if I did something to set it up wrong.... Anyone with experience with the Colossus or Gyro by Mya wouyld be appreciated.

Mya trays usually sit at the top with a little horizontal give to them (about 1/4") but they don't usually wobble. It should be sitting perfectly still on top but able to slide side to side if you put pressure on it.

Perhaps the tray was damaged somehow and given a slight curve to cause the wobble? Can you take pictures to show it?

Wait so you have the grommet pushed down sitting on top of the tray? All of my mya's are perfect, don't wobble, and site straight, the only time mine wobble is if the grommet isn't sitting tightly.

doesnt smoke as good as a tri-metal but it is a pretty decent hookah

Explain how one says one hookah smokes better than another. I would think as long as the hookah is air tight it should be a great smoke to the point that you won't notice the difference from one to another, as long as both are air tight. No? My dads friend has a KM, can't remember which and he also has a 26 inch I beleive egyptian, and they smoke great, to me not better or worse than any MYA i've smoked, but I never really notice a difference between hookah's as long as they are air tight.

Unnecessary bump, but its all good.

I am certain that it is not very complicated to just screw the stem to the base..place stem on top the base, and start rotating clock wise to hook, and counter clock wise to unhook.

That's one thing I don't like about Mya stems, the fact that they need the thread to be connected to the stem, and once those are gone, good luck finding a gasket thin enough to lock the stem and the base together.

Have someone strip the thread, then re-thread them. Or simply move on and buy an Egyptian hookah, preferably a KM.

You won't look back.

Yeah. You gotta love those machine made threadings that strip out.

Those threads on KM's never seem to have that problem... OH WAIT! There aren't any...

I've lost a lot of respect for Mya recently. I'm still a huge fan of their smaller, "staple" hookahs (i.e. QT, petite, bambino). But it seems like the more money you spend, the shittier the hookah gets - not in quality, but in design.

For instance, we all know Mya's don't purge. But the Mozza might as well not have a purge valve at all. Same with it's ash tray - utterly pointless. We've been selling egyptian trays, fat grommets, large hose adaptors, and phunnels with all our Mozzas just to make them decent. We've also seen a couple that the stem/shank has been crooked. And on a hookah that simple, a crooked shank is pretty damn noticable.

We also got one of those 40" crystal-based hookahs that retail for $450. It was beautiful, don't get me wrong. But the design was just silly. It came with the same flimsy, silicone grommet that came with my mini acrylic! This thing was heavy. I mean, it had four cloisenne's, and five segments - all beautifully decorated with matching tray. But with that kind of weight, the entire thing wobbled and swayed despite the fact that the crystal base weighed like 15lbs.

Not to mention the people at Mya don't know their own product. I asked for washable hoses so they sent me those basic hoses that come with the qt's but with a metal insert in the tip. I called and told them those were not washable since they had the internal wire. They proceeded to assure me that there hoses were indestructable due to some new patented Mya technology and innovation blah blah blah. So, after a few weeks of washings, guess what? Rust! I sent them an email and they've yet to reply.

I've had problem after problem with that company. We've just decided to stop ordering from them all together for anything other than the smaller hookahs. It's sad because I once held that company in such high regard, but now I don't know if I can believe anything they say about their product since I don't think they even know themselves. And considering most of their stuff has "made in china" stickers all over it, I'm beginning to think they've just become a glorified chinese hookah company.

This concludes my rant for the day. Stay tuned for next time when I bitch about the one KM we have that doesn't seem to fit into any base. It's a real mind bender!

I think they started making the insert out of stainless, and that's what they sent you. I have two washable hoses that look almost identical to my non-washable ones, i had to mark them to keep them separate.

That was my thought too until we cut one of the rusted ones open. No stainless to be found.

Have you washed yours for a while without any rust?

Well there are 3 sections of the stem pipe......one is very stripped and will no longer go together....basically what happened was the hookah was said to be "easy to take apart" for cleaning what the company failed to mention was that the colossus has a very specific way that it fits together.....making it extremely difficult to put back together.....there is also no official manual on how to assemble it.....so basically the stem pieces became stripped and one snapped a bit...so now I'm looking on the exact way to assemble it.....and if there are any resources for assembly or replacement parts

I would contact MyaSaray.com for parts but they will tend to be at MSRP.

Contact Hookah-Shisha.com They have a lot of Mya Saray Parts that they don't sell directly, but I have gotten stems and other parts for Myas from them in the past.
