Heat Management/coal Question

Recommended Posts

Guys,

How do you properly light a 3 kings quicklite? Just touch a lighter to it for a second or should I hold the lighter to it, and move the lighter around the surface of the coal? Also, what do most of you guys use for coals on a regular bowl? I'm thinking of 3 40 MM halfs...should these last for the whole bowl, or do you normally have to replace the coals with new ones before the bowl is done?

Thanks ALOT!!! biggrin.gif

I use 3 Kings 40mm - 2 halfs on a MYA bowl, 3 halfs on a regular bowl (2 for dryer shisas), or 4 halfs on a funnel.

To light, I use a regular lighter, light one edge, wait for the sparking, then set it on its side and come back in like 5 minutes. A couple good blows and it is ready to go (make sure it is completely red and ashing over).

I light mine a few different ways. If I'm inside, i set them on the stove for a few min. If I'm outside and not on my back yard, I use a lighter, wait till the bottom sparks, flip it over, and light the top till it starts sparking. If I'm on my backyard, I light my tiki torches and light the coal off of that tongue.gif
