SMOKE
I quit smoking cigarettes about 7 months ago,plus/minus. I was hitting 20-25 a day for the last 10 years so i figured its enough and time to quit. So i did. The thing is.... Im now addicted to hookah! I smoke atleast three times a day plus i bought one to keep in my office so i can smoke during the day! ITs just so damn good... peach nakhla...strwberry....apricot...mixed fruit... i cant help myself!! The point is after all the above: It can become addictive especially if you are an ex smoker.. HookahDuck
I find that strange. Perhaps your body is just clinging to any nicotine it can. I have never smoked cigg's, nor will I ever. I have smoked as many as 3 times a day for a few days in a row, then proceeded to not smoke for several weeks. I've never felt like I *had* to smoke. Only that I want to =P
yashman19
Well you just stated the obvious..There is such a thing called nicotine, which hookah tobacco does infact contain. Maybe not the same amount as ciggs, but it is infact apparant. But what I would like to know, is after smoking 25 ciggs a day for 10 years, then quiting, how long was it until you started smoking hookah after quiting ciggs? Did you quit ciggs and jump right into hookah? Then I would have to say you never quit anything, just started a new nicotine addiction. Or did you stop smoking ciggs for about a year, then move into hookah? I imagine if this is the case, your body would crave hookah even more than ciggs, because since you arn't getting the same amount of nicotine as when smoking ciggs, you will smoke more hookah just to please your body's cravings. Smoking anything isn't a great idea, and I'm afraid it was a bad idea to start hookah after quiting ciggs. For someone like me, I don't know what its like to quit ciggs, as I have never smoked them, but I can honestly say that I don't crave hookah from not smoking a week. I've smoked around 3 years, 1-3 times per day also, and there are times every once in a while where I can't smoke for a week, and don't feel anything, but I imagin it must be harder for you after smoking ciggs for so long. Hookah is great, but just be careful if its a healthy life you desire. If you quit ciggs because you fear for your health, you might want to think about droping the hookah as well, as its not a healthy alternative. Good luck with whatever you do, and ask any questions you have about hookah, thats what we're here for

HookahDuck
My mom actually used hookah to quit smoking cigg's. She used it to ween herself off, as hookah smoke contains quite a bit less nicotine. It also took care of the mental addiction. Took her about 2 months... but funny enough, it actually worked. She still has cravings and smokes with me occasionally(maybe once a week).

Sonthert
Cigarettes contain more addictive substances than nicotine. That's why nicotine treatments are far, far less than 100% effective (18-20%). Some people do actually get addicted to the nicotine, not to the warm company of friends and the comaraderie of sharing discussion and experiences. Soup
A long time ago...back when Mathazar was with us...there was a thread about how much you smoke. I believe that Math was up to 15-20 bowls a day. Don't think that you are smoking in excess. Hell, if I could smoke inside, I'd smoke tons everyday. I, myself, am an ex smoker and I find that I don't get the same out of hookah that I did from cigarettes. I just smoke hookah for the flavour and the social aspect of it. It is hard for me to get a buzz anymore...unless its from Nakhla Sweet Melon...WOW!

[/quote] Thats not even half of it....that fool also smoked anywhere from 1-3 large cigars per day, and also smoked pipe....That fools lungs must have a 1inch layer of black over his lungs... But then again, he was very much addicted to hookah. He threw out probably 5 hookahs in his lifetime because he said he wanted to quit, then a week later broke down....I can honestly say that I am no where near that mans addiction..
