Centralized Hookah Distribution System

Thats a sick setup. Hope you've got a lot of hookah loving friends! Loving the projector setup too.

A friend of mine made one of these years ago using a water cooler bottle just like your setup. It was so hard to pull from the hoses that he used the reverse pressure created from a vacuum cleaner motor to force air into the bottle so smoke would blow out of the hoses. It was controlled with a foot pedal from a sewing machine. He then had to add a one way valve to keep the air from blowing out the wrong way. It was a pretty complicated setup...but totally awesome once it was completed.

Thats a fascinating idea! I always wondered what would happen if you turned your hookah into a fog machine and just had some sort of pump on it...

As for the cooler bottle, I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but the hookah itself has hose attachments, if you try and use them, the draw is super hard, which is why I mounted all the points lower on the cooler itself. I also had to shorten the hose a little and those two combined made a world of difference, though in all honesty, I'm not really sure why. That said, there's really no reason to use the cooler bottle in this setup, I had made it for fun, and decided to hook them up together, you could just as easily adapt a normal hookah for this usage. It would certainly be easier to drain the water out...

so freakin amazing dude!!!
although this would be ugly/big job/lots of pipes, if you made each individual hose go into a separate whole in your water jug, would that not avoid the draw problem when multiple people are taking hits? on your jug it looks like there is room for multiple hoses.. but you would need like 6 pipes coming from your couch.. just a thought! but awesome man......... smile.gif

and if you add a spigot at the bottom of your jug, you could empty the used water quickly, then add more easily through the top! oooh yes , drool starting to form.. Edited by mikeypas

hehe, yeah, i've been thinking about the spigot thing, right now the bigger pain is the hose going to it screws in.. I need to figure out some sort of quick release.

The jug has 6 spots from where it used to sit standing alone (sort of became the center piece of our kitchen table for a while ;-) You could still tell when every one was drawing though. Its worse now, but not by a lot. I think the vaccum thing is the only way to really normalize the pressure, but you'd need some fancy stuff to keep it from pumping all the time... beyond my current level of interest and finances wink.gif

Welcome to the Forum Variable!

That is one hell of a clever system, and i'm genuinely impressed at it's originality. That is Hookah Engineering that Scalliwag would be proud of!
