Dom
hey, everyone. sorry i've been gone for so long. i've been out to sea. our ship is in San Diego, now and i decided to go visit the Fumari Hookah Lounge on G St. Great tobacco, but i was expecting more out of the lounge. especially since i had to pay $9.50 for one hookah session!! ZOMG! and that's the "happy hour" price. the normal price is about 20 bucks! (refills: $9.50). that is way to steep for me to do more than a couple times. i can't blame them, though. Everything is more expensive in Cali. on the flip side: i gotta hand it to california. they allow thier hookah lounges to sell alchohol. That is unheard of in Virginia. with the smoking ban, it makes it really hard. it's a good lounge, though. when i went, they were playing jazz music and had a really chill environment. The manager said that the hookahs they use there are KM's. i had never smoked out of a KM hookah before and it was pretty good. i got to drink a few of Fat Tire beers. smoke with a buddy from my ship. The folks there were really nice and i look forward to going back again. good time.has anyone else been here? what do you think of this place? know of any other good hookah lounges in that same area? i heard there is one down the street that i may try. mdl
Last time I went by Fumari there was a line out the door. No way will you catch me lining up to spend $20 on a hookah. The place is a little too trendy for my taste but if you're into that sort of thing (which downtown generally is) then I'm sure it's enjoyable. There are a good few downtown, some sell beer, others don't. There are also a fair amount of hookah lounges by State.
